HOTELS & HOSPITALITY

ENHANCING THE GUEST EXPERIENCE

Making guests feel indulged is an important part of the visitor experience, but this is a challenge for the hotel and hospitality sector as it faces wider cost pressures. Paul Mulready, Marketing Manager of Northwood Hygiene Ltd, looks at how hotels can make the right choice in dispensers and consumables for their washrooms to create a positive impression.

With Covid restrictions dropped and a return to international travel, conferences and events, the hotel and hospitality sector has seen a strong recovery in 2022. And as the desire to visit bars, restaurants and hotels rises ahead of Christmas, it remains important for establishments to enhance the guest experience at every opportunity.

There are however cost pressures across two key areas – energy and labour – that are hitting the sector hard. Hotels are intensive energy consumers and the rising cost of energy is likely to be a huge factor for those without fixed utility contracts. With demand for staff currently outweighing supply, salary expectations are higher than a few months ago, meaning establishments need to make cost savings where they can.

The good news is that facilities managers can deliver that all important guest experience in the washroom, by choosing high-capacity systems that keep spaces well- stocked with toilet paper, soap and hand towels, whilst also helping to reduce costs.

Save money and reduce waste A system, like the Raphael range of washroom dispensers from Northwood, is ideal for busy washrooms, helping to deliver improved washroom hygiene standards, whilst also saving money and reducing waste.

Suitable for both ‘front of house’ and ‘back of house’, Raphael delivers high capacity and supreme cost- in-use benefits and is easy to maintain for efficient, washroom management.

The range includes a toilet tissue dispenser, four hand towel dispensers and a soap dispenser. It features a wide variety of soap and paper options to suit different uses – from pure pulp embossed and laminated 2-ply paper for public spaces to 1 ply recycled paper for back of house.

The roll towel dispensers hold up to 250 metres each and provide approximately 500 dries, with some offering stub-roll transfer to ensure zero waste.

The Raphael folded towel dispenser has a large 1,000 sheet capacity and all Raphael hand drying systems dispense one at a time flat sheets to discourage misuse. The dispensers have been designed not to free roll to further reduce over usage and restrict mess or untidiness.

Luxury bathroom addition For hotel rooms and bathrooms, it’s worth seeking out quality products that add to the luxury guest experience.

The Whisper premium tissue range from Northwood, for instance, offers a selection of premium toilet tissue, facial tissues and airlaid hand towels that are a pleasure for hotel guests to use.

The range includes both 2 and 3-ply luxury toilet tissues and these are laminated or embossed for comfort and absorbency. The Whisper hand towels have been designed to provide superior softness and absorbency, whilst the facial tissues come in fresh, modern packaging and are available in a cube or traditional skillet.

Whisper is a plush addition for any guest room, but did you know that it also caters for ‘back of house’ too? The range includes a host of durable and strong paper products that have been designed to meet the strict demands of modern industrial kitchens, whilst also delivering value for money.

In a challenging economic climate with costs rising, hospitality facilities managers must deliver good hygiene standards, whilst often also keeping to tight budgets. By choosing systems that are fit for purpose whilst reducing waste and cost, they can help to make public and staff- only spaces clean, tidy and pleasant to use.
