PRESSURE WASHERS & STEAM CLEANERS : KÄRCHER TURN UP THE HEAT
Kärcher explains how whether you’re cleaning your own premises or a customer’s, by adding a little heat into the mix, you can deliver truly efficient cleaning that doesn’t cost the earth.
Reducing the amount of energy and resources a company uses while cleaning benefits not only the environment but also their bottom line. While it may seem contradictory, it’s worth considering how using a more powerful machine can in itself be energy efficient if it means the task is completed faster. For example, hot water pressure washers reduce detergent usage, require shorter drying times and clean up to 40% faster than cold water alternatives – quickly offsetting the upfront purchase and fuel costs. Indeed, Kärcher’s eco!efficiency mode generates further operational savings by setting the pressure washer up to function at its best for daily use but with diesel consumption reduced by 20%.
From its inception Kärcher has known the power of heat in cleaning, indeed the trademark chevrons in its logo relate to fire, water and air. The very first steam cleaners Alfred Kärcher worked upon were born of a bootlegger’s prohibition discovery; that oil stains on the floor of an illicit whiskey distillery were easily dissolved; when hot steam was directed at them and, once dissolved; it was easy to wipe them away with water.
Today there are three ways to steam and easily wipe away stains without the need for chemicals. Alongside the Hot Water Pressure Washer, Steam Cleaners and Steam Generating Vacuums offer new levels of efficiency and cleanliness for hard surfaces and textiles too.
Traditionally where hygiene is an intrinsic part of the daily routine, many still use strong chemicals and labour-intensive methods like manual scrubbing and scraping. While results from traditional manual cleaning methods can look acceptable, costs for detergent and labour are often much higher than necessary, and the

time to complete a thorough deep clean can be excessive, sometimes even needing to be done at night- time or weekends incurring additional wage costs. Alternatively Steam Cleaners leave surfaces hygienically clean. Pressurised steam easily penetrates dirt, significantly improving cleaning results, reducing cleaning time and even eliminating the need for detergent. Steam Generating Vacuums take this a step further, combining a vacuum function with the steam to leave surfaces clean and instantly dry in a single pass solution. Cleaning with steam will leave hard floors, stainless steel, chrome, kitchen appliances, industrial systems and glass hygienically clean and instantly dry, restoring original finishes and surface textures and reducing slip hazards on floor surfaces.
With time and cost at a premium, professionals need cleaning solutions which deliver results first time round whilst cutting the amount of energy, water and cleaning chemicals used.
REDUCED ENERGY Kärcher machines including Hot Water Pressure Washers, the Steam Generating Vac (SGV), Scrubber Driers and Vacuums feature eco!efficiency mode. With this setting machines function for optimal efficiency, saving energy, water and cleaning agent. Not only does the lower power consumption reduce operating costs, but at the same time the noise level is decreased, making it ideal for use in noise-sensitive areas such as care facilities, canteens and hotels.
REDUCED CHEMICALS Where detergent is required for stubborn residues or for fragrance, Kärcher’s concentrate formulas have less environmental impact through packaging manufacture and waste,
while Intelligent Dosing Systems ensure levels can be adjusted to suit the degree of soiling, reducing consumption and cost.
REDUCED WATER The UK Government calculates that using natural resources more efficiently could save UK businesses around £23billion a year, as well as bring more resilience to climate change and the rising prices of commodities. To help encourage more efficient use of resources in business, the government’s Enhanced Capital Allowance (ECA) scheme lets businesses write off the purchase cost of certain water efficient technologies against their taxable profits. Due to their efficient use of water, Kärcher’s new Steam Cleaners, Steam Generating Vacs and many Kärcher Scrubber Driers qualify for ECAs and feature on the Water Technology List.
