ADVERTISING & PR : CERIS BURNS INTERNATIONAL CREATING A BUZZ

Behind every successful company lies a hard-working, dedicated PR team. Ceris Burns International, the specialist communications agency for the cleaning, waste management and FM sectors tell us how they have helped create a buzz for their clients to make them stand out from the crowd.

To survive and thrive, organisations need to communicate with many different audiences and stand out from the crowd. You may be the best manufacturer or service provider, the most supportive employer, with the broadest product range and most comprehensive customer service in the country, but if you don’t tell anyone, no-one will know.

Ceris Burns International is a specialist international PR and communications agency for the cleaning, facilities management, recycling and waste management industries. We are experts in creating and nurturing positive personas for organisations and our strategic communications campaigns deliver measurable results through the shaping and management of client reputations.

We did just that for the Awards for Excellence in Recycling and Waste Management, organised by the Environment Media Group. These are widely recognised as the most prestigious awards in the sector. Ceris Burns International led a PR campaign, approaching vertical markets to position the awards as a ‘must attend’ event, as well as heightening the profile of letsrecycle.com as a meticulous conference organiser that is committed to the recycling and waste management industry.

The PR programme gave particular emphasis to securing press coverage in recycling and environmental trade titles but also vertical market titles read by those in retail recycling, waste facilities design, operation management, manufacturing, crew collections and local authorities.

Focus was given to securing detailed feature editorials which are excellent for building credibility. These were based around a wide variety of topics including end of waste regulations and their impact for specific sectors of the recycling and waste management industry, the circular economy and materials security. The use of social media tools including Twitter also helped to raise the profile of the events.

One of the highlights of the campaign was securing the attendance of the deputy editor of Director magazine as a guest at the Awards for Excellence in Recycling and Waste Management, and facilitating an interview with the editor of letsrecycle.com, Steve Eminton. Entries to the awards increased by 44% from the previous year.

Since 2007, Ceris Burns International has been building communications campaigns that create a buzz and deliver results for a wide range of organisations, from product manufacturers to service providers and trade bodies.

To raise awareness of Julius Rutherfoord’s premium cleaning and support services, and enhance its profile, Ceris Burns International created a best practice ‘how to’ guide. Julius Rutherfoord’s Battersea HQ won the 2013 Kimberly-Clark Golden Service Award for the UK’s healthiest workplace, so the guide – ‘Eight Ways to Keep a Healthy Workplace’ – focused on the company’s expertise in improving workplace well-being.

Ceris Burns International researched and wrote the copy for the guide, incorporating innovative ways to increase workplace well-being for

staff and clients. It gave companies information on the costs incurred by absenteeism through illness, and offered ways to improve the well- being of their employees and reduce the incidence of workplace illness.

The finished guide was made available to download as a PDF from the Julius Rutherfoord website; and a press release announced its launch to key titles in the trade press. Results from the campaign were able to be measured by the number of downloads of the guide, in addition to press coverage secured.

Our service range includes media relations, corporate communications, content marketing, social media and online, crisis communications and media training. Our PR account managers apply industry know-how, plus foreign language skills, helping to raise the profile of organisations on an international level as well as UK wide.
