Having only been a part of the cleaning world for around six months at the time of writing, it’s slightly tricky for me to reflect on the past year in the industry. But what has struck me since taking over as editor here at Tomorrow’s Cleaning, is the way that I have been welcomed with open arms into this marvellous industry.
It doesn’t get the best press in the world, but I feel proud to be involved with the passionate and dedicated people that grace the cleaning sector, and the more I get to know each and every one of you, the more I become sure that this industry is on the rise.
So what has happened in the past 12 months? One thing I have noticed is the continuous push for the Living Wage to be implemented across the board. With the BCC throwing their support behind the Living Wage Foundation, and companies such as Julius Rutherfoord, Servest and Principle Cleaning signing up this year, I think that it’s vital that we as an industry continue to promote the ideals of a good day’s pay for a good day’s work as we look ahead to the next 12 months.

Elsewhere, the Cleaning Show made a triumphant return this year. Moving to a new venue at the Excel Centre in London seemed to reinvigorate the exhibition, with a huge increase in exhibitors – including the return of some of the industry’s biggest names. And with preregistered visitors up by 60% on the 2013 show, it will no doubt go down as a massive success. It was a great experience for myself personally, being my first ever trade show, and here at TCHQ, we’re already looking forward to the 2017 show.
We trust that you will find our comprehensive guide to the cleaning world useful, as inside these pages you’ll find all the necessary information from some of the key players across all sectors of the industry. From food hygiene to floorcare, chemicals to carpet and upholstery care, it’s all here in this definitive guide to the cleaning industry.
We hope this serves you well over the next 12 months – here’s to another successful year.
