Built-In Germ Protection For Your Floors

Buckeye is introducing the first floor finish with EPA registered antimicrobial technology by Microban International. Clarion 25 utilises surface modification technology that embeds a proven antimicrobial within the coating to provide added protection for the life of the product.

Because there is not enough time to clean as often as we would like, Clarion 25 empowers facilities with an extra level of proactive protection. Microban provides continuous antimicrobial product protection for the useful lifetime of the product. The enhanced features are beneficial as part of a systems approach for cleanliness-sensitive environments, such as schools and healthcare facilities.

In retail, Clarion 25 will provide added protection in the places our families visit every day. Clarion 25 will do these

things by reducing the overall bioburden on the floor in between normal cleaning and disinfecting procedures.

Clarion 25 contains no tin, arsenic, or triclosan. The embedded antimicrobial is designed to work within the environment of the dried floor finish so there is no hazard to the natural environment or health and human safety.

Buckeye International has a long history of design and development that has demonstrated true value while making the lives of those that use it easier and healthier. Clarion 25 with Microban is the latest in a long series of proven solutions with demonstrable results.

CASE STUDY: New School can

maintain floors for years to come This past May, Falls Lake Academy celebrated its first graduating class. Established in 2013, Falls Lake serves K-12 students in Southern Granville County, North Carolina. Lake Falls’ mission statement includes promotion of ‘…a safe, orderly, caring and supportive community’.

For Terry Stone, Maintenance Crew and Lead Floor Tech, fostering a safer, comfortable learning environment means providing a clean environment. Before Buckeye, maintenance staff members did not like stripping school floors because it took a long time and the odours from the floor stripper were harsh, making the task difficult and uncomfortable. Problems with annual floor maintenance prevented Stone and his staff from providing cleaner, shinier floors for the students and faculty of Falls Lake.

When given the option to test Buckeye’s RipSaw floor stripper and Clarion 25 floor finish, Stone agreed to a demonstration. Staff members commented on the ease with which RipSaw removed the previous floor finish. Immediately after Clarion 25 was applied, the difference in the floor’s shine was obvious. After seeing the difference, Stone agreed to recoat all the school’s floors. A year later, Clarion 25 continues to resist the wear of heavy foot traffic, unlike their previous floor finish.

Stone commented: “This product has proved its value. It needs no promotion. Once you see it, you see the difference.”

In addition to its appearance, Clarion 25 also provides invisible protection against the growth of bacteria. Clarion 25 uses built-in Microban antimicrobial technology to help stop bacteria from multiplying between cleanings and keep school floors cleaner longer.

The Buckeye Hard Floor Care Program included training for staff members on daily, interim, and restorative floor care. With Buckeye’s top scrub and recoat method, Buckeye can extend the time between strip cycles. Because Buckeye floor finishes are durable, clear and repairable, they do not require a full strip out every year. With proper training, facilities can save hours of labour, extending their strip cycles to three years and allowing them to spend time on other tasks.

With Buckeye’s Hard Floor Care Program, Falls Lake staff members can now top scrub and recoat the floors of six classrooms in the time it used to take them to strip the floors of two classrooms. Overall, Buckeye’s Hard Floor Care Program is saving Falls Lake approximately 83 hours of labour and will help staff members take care of the new school for years to come.
