News Sponsored by gbac.issa.com/gbac-star-facilities-and-supporters/ GBAC STAR accreditation achieved for

many facilities The Global Biorisk Advisory Council (GBAC), a Division of ISSA, has awarded GBAC STAR accreditation to dozens of new facilities around the world over the course of the last month.

Chief amongst these are Arrowhead Stadium, home to the NFL’s Kansas City Chiefs in Missouri; CenturyLink Field, home to the NFL’s Seattle Seahawks in Washington; Montreal-Trudeau International Airport in Canada; multiple Hyatt properties; and more, all recognised for their thorough approach to cleaning, disinfection, and infection prevention.

With seating for approximately 73,000, Arrowhead Stadium will host approximately 16,000 fans and conduct pre- and post-game cleaning and disinfection to provide the safest environment possible. The University of Kansas Health System Training Complex, the Chiefs’ practice facility, has also achieved GBAC STAR accreditation.

Patricia Olinger, GBAC Executive Director, said: “Each week, we see more organisations achieve GBAC STAR accreditation and others commit to completing this process because they are dedicated to protecting their patrons and employees. While it’s unclear when the COVID-19 pandemic will end, we are certain that accredited facilities have the highest regards for health and safety in this new normal along with a commitment to continuous improvement going forward.”

GBAC STAR is an important indicator of a facility’s ability to prepare, respond, and recover from infectious disease and biohazard threats. The accreditation is renewed annually to encourage organisations to document their progress and continually strive for improvement.

Amongst the other facilities to receive GBAC STAR accreditation are: DC Armory in Washington D.C.; Independence Visitor Center Corporation in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania; Buffalo Niagara Convention Center in New York; Adare Manor in County Limerick, Ireland; The Legian Seminyak in Bali, Indonesia; Llao Llao Resort, Golf & Spa, in Bariloche, Argentina; along with many more hotel properties, businesses and retail facilities.

ISSA Executive Director John Barret commented: “The GBAC STAR program is the gold standard of prepared facilities and will help the public gauge an organisation’s commitment to the elevated standard of cleanliness that is now essential. We are thrilled to welcome additional facilities in North America, Europe, and Asia this week.”

2020 Loo of the Year Awards event cancelled

The 2020 Loo of the Year Awards event (including Washroom Cleaner of the Year Awards) has been cancelled, due to COVID-19 restrictions on the number of attendees at events in England.

The 2020 Loo of the

Year Awards event was originally planned to take place on Friday 4 December 2020 at the St Johns Hotel, Solihull.

Mike Bone, Managing Director of the Loo of the Year Awards, apologised for the disappointment this action will cause for loyal Awards entrants, sponsors, exhibitors and other event supporters. He said that it was essential to maintain the high quality achieved each year which would not be possible with current restrictions.

All 2020 entrants will receive the full details of their award grading in October, and Award Grade certificates will be sent to them in late November/early December. Winners of National Awards for England, Ireland, Scotland and Wales will be advised in early December, as well as the UK and Ireland Trophy winners. Arrangements will be made to present Trophies wherever possible.

The 2021 Loo of the Year Awards will be launched in early 2021, with full details being released onto the website below at some point in the New Year.
