News Sponsored by Greyland steps up

Cleaning chemical manufacturer Greyland has seen an increase in demand of 300% from its distributor network.

With the global Coronavirus pandemic raging, and despite the general lockdown in force, there are some firms that are now busier than ever, and Greyland is one of them. Demand for liquid soap and specialist sanitisers for the NHS and care home market especially has grown tenfold since the instruction in early March for everyone to increase hand washing.

As a result, Greyland has taken on extra production staff and new, longer shifts have been introduced in order to fulfil the increase in demand. Dozens of new distributor enquiries have been received, due to many cleaning chemical manufacturers being overwhelmed.

Thankfully, the company has been following an extended programme of continuous growth, matched by significant investment in production capacity for a good number of years, meaning that they are able to cope with the sudden spike of extra orders. In addition, their distribution fleet has more than kept pace, and orders are usually received, produced and delivered within days instead of weeks.

Greyland Managing Director, Richard Dyson, said: “In my approaching 40 years in the cleaning industry, I have never

known anything remotely like what we are experiencing right now.”

With an eye to the future, Greyland recently introduced its Maximum Eco range, as well as increased the percentage of recycled material used in its product packaging to an unrivalled 40%.

The company will also be exhibiting at the delayed Manchester Cleaning Show in September, where potential distributors will be able to talk with Greyland first-hand.

ECH Awards 2020 postponed

returning to the same venue on 4 November 2021.

Michelle Marshall, Editor of the European Cleaning Journal and founder of the awards, said: “As many of our colleagues across the cleaning and hygiene sector continue to face challenging times, as they adapt to living and working alongside the COVID-19 crisis, we have made the difficult decision to cancel this year’s event in Brussels to protect the health of our supporters.

The organisers behind the European Cleaning & Hygiene Awards have announced that the 2020 event, set to take place in Brussels, will be postponed until 2021 due to the ongoing COVID-19 crisis.

The fifth annual event, which celebrates the cleaning and hygiene sector across Europe, was due to take place on 5 November 2020 at Le Plaza Hotel, Brussels. However, as the Coronavirus continue to affect people and businesses across the globe, the event has now been cancelled,

8 | WHAT’S NEW?

“Many of our sponsors and supporters are working tirelessly on the frontline, delivering vital services to keep our communities clean and safe during these unprecedented times. Whilst we are keen to give these workers the recognition they deserve, we must ensure that their safety comes first, therefore we feel that hosting a large-scale event this year is not the right thing to do.

“We would like to thank our sponsors, media partners and entrants for their support to date and look forward to celebrating the industry’s outstanding efforts when the event returns to Le Plaza Hotel in November 2021.”
