News Sponsored by CHSA appoints new Secretary

The Cleaning & Hygiene Suppliers Association (CHSA) has said a heartfelt thank you to Linda Belcher, who has stepped down as the Association’s Secretary after many years of service.

Linda’s contribution has been fundamental to the evolution of the CHSA’s respected Accreditation Schemes for manufacturers and distributors of cleaning and hygiene products, which guarantee ‘what’s on the box is what’s in the box’. Linda facilitated the smooth and professional operation of the Schemes throughout her tenure, in particular including early in her time in post when the criteria of the schemes were enhanced, and the rigour of the auditing process increased.

Lorcan Mekitarian, Chair of the CHSA, thanked Linda for her service. He said: “I speak on behalf of everyone on our governing Council and the members we represent when I say we are very grateful for the incredibly valuable contribution Linda has made to the CHSA. Linda has been integral to operation of our valued and respected Accreditation Schemes, delivering for Scheme members and buyers of cleaning and hygiene products.

“She has been responsible for delivering our hugely successful annual Gala Ball and charity golf day, which together have raised tens of thousands of pounds for charity during her period in post. She has also been active in running our Undergraduate Bursary Schemes and participating in the assessment process.

Vectair supply NHS Nightingale hospital

Vectair Systems is helping to distribute and deliver urgent supplies to the frontline during the coronavirus crisis.

Almost 1000 of the company’s Sanitex MVP Soap refills

have arrived at the NHS Nightingale Hospital already, and a delivery of Vectair’s Sanitex Instant Hand Gel was also delivered to the hospital over Easter.

The NHS Nightingale in east London’s ExCel centre can hold as many as 4000 patients and is the first of the Government’s emergency field hospitals to treat people with the coronavirus. The NHS is currently having to use high quantities of equipment to protect staff and combat the virus as it spreads. However, the coronavirus epidemic is generating unprecedented global demand on the supply chain, combined with manufacturing slowdown in affected countries.

Paul Wonnacott, Managing Director and President of Vectair, said: “We have been working hard to ensure that we

“We are sad to see her go but wish her the very best for the future.”

Lorraine Francis, who has a strong track record in managing membership organisations, has been appointed to succeed Linda in running the Secretariat.

New to the cleaning industry, Lorraine is very experienced in running membership organisations. She was Executive Director of the professional services membership organisation Birmingham Forward and is now running the membership organisation Coventry & Warwickshire First. She is also a Council Member of Birmingham Chamber of Commerce, a Trustee of the Birmingham Civic Society and was a member of Common Purpose Birmingham’s Advisory Group.

Lorcan added: “Lorraine is bringing a great deal of expertise to our Association. We look forward to welcoming her on board.”

can keep providing the important products that the NHS so desperately needs, and I am so proud of our operations team who have been keeping the warehouse going to support our customers in this unprecedented time. From the moment the Nightingale Hospital requested our soap, we manage to deliver it onsite within 48 hours.

“Our supply chain management team have been in close communication with our supply partners to try and fulfil as many outstanding orders as we can. Whilst we carry out this work, we are continuing to ensure that we have the strictest measures in place to protect the health and wellbeing of our wonderful staff.”

According to the World Health Organization, to prevent infection and slow the transmission of the coronavirus, we should wash our hands regularly with soap and water or clean them with an alcohol-based hand rub. Vectair’s Sanitex MVP Soap cartridges are single-use refills that are tightly sealed to ensure no soap is contaminated in use.

In busy hospital wards where soap and water aren’t available, Vectair’s Sanitex Instant Hand Gel – which contains more than 70% alcohol content – can help reduce the number of germs on hands. Both the soap and hand gel can be dispensed from Vectair’s durable Sanitex dispensers, which Vectair donated to the hospital.
