Supporting the local community is part of the philosophy at TVC, with Principle team members going above and beyond their regular hours to volunteer at nearby Wood Lane Community Centre. Over the span of three evenings, they deep cleaned, buffered and polished the floor in their free time to make it more welcoming for everyone who uses the centre. The team went on to organise a clothing drive in June, resulting in a substantial donation of 150kg of clothing to charities dedicated to supporting the elderly.

As well as being passionate about its people, Principle is committed to sustainability and innovation. Principle’s ‘PCS Hub’, its in-house online portal, which is shared with Savills’ management team, gives everyone access to real time data on all aspects of the cleaning services, at any time, 24/7.

Feeding into PCS Hub is Principle’s Drop Marking technology, which enables its window cleaning team at TVC to accurately record how long each drop takes and provides a real-time record of the progress of scheduled cleans. The company has also developed a weather reporting form that its team must complete before any work can commence.

Principle supports sustainable environments wherever possible, and works closely with the Savills Estate Management team to use products and services which advance social value and reduce their impact on the planet.

TVC has been proactive in delivering its ESG strategy, focusing on reducing fuel by replacing the machinery fleet with new electric equipment, such as the Tomcat scrubber dryer and the Addex pedestrian sweeper. Along with the cleaning equipment, TVC has also changed the way waste is transported by moving to an electric bin tug and further investing in new waste bins, allowing the team to move away from previous methods used for this task.

The on-site team has also worked hard to find a solution to food waste, establishing a relationship with the local council to set up collections of food waste in separate streams. Having this new collection system in place has helped reduce costs and improve recycling statistics. Principle is also aiming to create new habits among occupiers and residents through the Estate team, holding pop-up stands to engage in discussions around disposing waste via the correct streams.

Anousha Bhugun, the Savills Assistant ESG Manager, commented: “The Principle team has played a central role in the implementation of our ESG strategy at TVC. Their dedication to sustainability is evident through their consistent generation of innovative ideas and proposals, ranging from electric cleaning equipment, eco-friendly chemicals and new recycling streams.”

Critical service provision is also part of Principle’s offering. When the site was faced with a recent flash flood, the company provided an emergency response with a large number of the team staying on site throughout the night to defend it from the water. Principle also provided specialist cleaning teams to ensure that the site was open and ready for business again, within six hours.

Mike Darmanin concluded: “Our cleaning team is passionate about providing a first-class service, ensuring the site is kept in immaculate order and to the highest standards; providing a helping hand to all who require it. We recognise that being flexible and approachable whilst bringing innovation to TVC contributes to success, while our services can continue to develop and ensure the smooth running of the estate.”
