Cleanology has appointed its first ever Chief Operating Officer (COO), in order to support the company’s national expansion programme.
As COO, Edd Horler will manage day-to-day operations across the UK, which run from Scotland to the South Coast.
CEO Dominic Ponniah described the move as an essential strategy to ensure that the company maintains the same high level of service as it moves into new markets. Cleanology has undergone rapid growth over the last year, expanding its customer base from three to 17 UK cities.
Ponniah said: “It’s important not to lose focus on the essential goals of delivering a high-quality and efficient service as you scale the business. Over the next three years, we plan to build four regional hubs, and I’m delighted that Edd has joined Cleanology to support our growth journey and help manage increasingly complex operations.”
Edd Horler has overseen large teams and projects for advertising giant JCDecaux and City Facilities, where he managed contracts for Asda and M&S.
Horler said: “I was drawn to the entrepreneurial flair of Cleanology, along with values that I have been used to – client and customer-led principles, as well as environmental excellence, fair pay and placing real value on the work done by colleagues at every level of the business.”
Moving forward, Horler said his role will be to support Cleanology as it grows, while also growing the team and increasing sustainability across the whole model.
Meanwhile, Cleanology has also appointed Ryan Jex as Regional Director for the North – Cleanology’s fastest- growing business area. Jex will introduce Cleanology innovation and sustainability to a recent acquisition, as well as managing day-to-day operations in that region.
Ponniah added: “With a unique blend of sales and operational experience, Ryan will be a fantastic addition to the team. He has a really good understanding of what’s needed to deliver a premium service.”

International appointment for Genesis
Genesis Biosciences recently made a key appointment in its Cardiff-based headquarters to support their global capabilities.
Katie Thomas has been appointed as their Commercial & Operations Assistant, and will aid the business in its international affairs using her ability to speak French, German and Italian.
After graduating from Aberystwyth University in 2016 with a double-major in French and German and a minor in Italian, Katie moved to Italy where she taught English as a Foreign Language (EFL) for three years and achieved non-native fluency before stepping into the world of business.
Her move to Genesis will be her first within the scientific industry, and the role will see her expanding her overall business knowledge while supporting the Sales, Operations and Administrational sides of the business.

Discussing her recent appointment, Katie said: “I’m really looking forward to joining Genesis Biosciences and stepping out of my comfort zone a little. I have always had a fascination with science and medicine from a young age, but with my strengths lying in the arts I never really had the confidence to take such a leap until now.
“Joining Genesis was an easy decision once I met with their friendly and down-to-earth UK team, and got to see the incredible work that they are doing for the both the environment and their field of science. I’m very passionate about protecting the environment and about learning what I can do to assist, so joining a business dedicated to providing alternatives for harmful chemicals seemed like a good fit.”
Emma Saunders, General Manager at Genesis Biosciences, said: “We are very pleased to welcome Katie to the team and are excited to have such a multilingual talent on board. As a global company, our international relationships are very important to us as it means that we can continue to work with businesses worldwide towards making a positive impact on the industry and environment.”
