What was your first job? I started out as a menswear
buyer for a catalogue.
How did you get into the industry?
By luck, I played sport with a team who thought I’d make a good sales representative.
What has been your proudest moment?
My proudest moments have been the birth of each of my daughters.
If you could hire anyone to be part of your team,
who would it be and why? I had the pleasure to work with a colleague who has now retired, Alan Tipper. He is a fantastic guy and great role model who was liked and respected by all customers. He would be the man that I’d like to be part of my team.

What’s the best advice you could give
to someone new coming into
the industry? Work hard, be honest and enjoy.

What’s the first thing you’d buy if you won
the lottery? A trip to take in the views at the Grand

If you could have a dinner party with any
three people, dead or alive, who
would you choose and why? A meal with the three girls in my life, my gorgeous wife and two daughters.
What did you want to be when you were
growing up? Just like most boys, a footballer.
What do you think the future holds for flooring?
It holds great challenges but also great

Contract Flooring Association, asked:With a clear skills and labour shortage more apparent now than ever, what else can the industry do to entice new
floorlayers into the industry? The industry needs to come together to form one voice to connect and reach out to school leavers driving forward an apprenticeship programme.
