EVEN THE EXPERIENCED LEARN
AT THE ACADEMY James Dewar of Ian Dewar Interiors is the first Master Installer to be presented his badge as the Academy for Excellence in Flooring resumed its training calendar after temporarily closing during the Covid-19 pandemic.
Established in 1997, Ian Dewar Interiors is a family-run firm based in Manchester that has gained a reputation for providing professional and high-quality flooring installations to homes and businesses. Having heard positive things about the Academy and the business benefits of the Master Installer programme, the company decided to send James Dewar on the course.
“Having been a flooring fitter for over 20 years I was a little sceptical as to what I would gain from the course,” said James. “However, I did learn a great deal and I’m happy to say that there’s a clear difference between fitting laminate and fitting laminate the Quick-Step way.”

THIS IS MORE THAN
JUST A LECTERN The new Richelieu lectern from Louis de Poortere provides access to a choice of more than 140 colours in exquisitely crafted woven wool-rich wall-to-wall carpet and runners.
Delivering an incredible 144 colour options, there’s no doubt that Louis de Poortere’s Richelieu wilton collection provides formidable choice and a colour for everyone. So, the Belgian weaving maestro has had quite some challenge in capturing the collection on a lectern that’s compact enough for flooring and home interior stores.
The result is a lectern with a small footprint that manages to showcase Richelieu’s extensive colour palette as well as its six wall-to-wall carpet qualities and numerous runner styles. The lectern uses clever layout and storage to house colour chips, feeler samples and full sizes swatches so that browsers get the full hands-on experience.

three-day Master Installer course is a challenge for installers of all abilities, regardless of how many years they’ve been fitting wood and laminate floors.
“As James was installing Impressive Patterns, which requires precise planning, the task was even more challenging. Whether it takes 10 minutes or an hour, correct planning will take the stress and heartache out of installing – James spent time wisely and nailed the installation. He’s now one of the most highly skilled installers in the industry and proud holder of a Master Installer badge.”
day Master Installer Laminate & Wood programme. The course sees a mix of classroom knowledge and practical training and assessments, with a pass or fail outcome, and qualified Master Installers are provided with a wide range of business enhancements on completion.

Alan Russell, sales director UK, Louis de Poortere, said: ‘The new Richelieu programme is highly flexible, with customers able to choose any colour in any style or quality into stock in four weeks. It is the result of a complete overhaul of our wilton carpet production.
“While this flexibility is great for homeowners, displaying it is not without complexity, so we’ve thought hard about how people engage with carpet when purchasing. As a tactile product, it’s important that we use the sense of touch to let people explore Richelieu and so through some clever design we’ve managed to create a display that achieves this, as well as communicating the quality that comes with every Louis de Poortere piece.”
In an elegant black finish that catches the eye, the new lectern is now available from Louis de Poortere.
