SHOW BUSINESS The Flooring Show returns, much to the delight of the flooring community.
From 19-21 September, thousands of flooring professionals reconvened at the Harrogate Convention Centre. With everyone back together again, there was real excitement in the air. Visitors turned up in their thousands, keen to see all the latest product launches and conduct business face to face with new and existing suppliers.
Simon Jenkins, from F Ball & Co Ltd, commented: “It’s been fantastic to get back out there and talk to customers face to face again. We’ve been really busy with a lot of people coming to our stand and showing a lot of interest in our range of flooring adhesives and floor preparation products.”
Echoing his comments was Ross McGregor, from Genesis Global Systems Ltd, who said: “It’s tremendous to be back. The key thing for us at The Flooring Show is to re-engage with all the people we’ve not seen for a while – being here is not just about selling, it’s about building relationships too.”
While Martin Cummins, from Bostik, who were a main sponsor at this year’s Flooring Show, remarked how well the show went. “It’s a really impressive exhibition and we’re glad to be here”, he said. “The number of visitors to the show has been amazing, we’ve been non-stop.”
If there was a way to summarise the show, David Hibbert from Unifloor BV put it best. He said: “The Flooring Show is the premium show in the UK, and we need to be here”.
28 | THE FLOORING SHOW REVIEW
The three-day show, which covers Sunday, Monday, and Tuesday, attracted an excellent mix of specialist flooring buyers from independent and national retailers, as well as contractors, fitters, specifiers, architects, and interior designers.
Alex Butler, Event Director of The Flooring Show, commented: “As soon as registration opened for The Flooring Show, we were confident it was going to be a well-attended event. We were tracking over 20% ahead of the previous show in 2019, so it was clear that buyers had missed the opportunity to complete their buying face to face”.
“Not only did flooring professionals turn up in their thousands, but they were also quality visitors who came with the intention of sourcing and buying new products too.”
This year saw the introduction of several new features to the show. The Design & Innovation Spotlight, curated by Sally Angharad, highlighted key design development and innovation in the flooring industry and how this relates to advancements across the design world. This new dedicated feature focused on sustainability and climate change, showing how the flooring industry can really make a difference. The most pioneering products from exhibitors were on display to help visitors make their selections for the autumn buying season.
