Welcome to the June issue of Tomorrow’s Contract Floors.
This spring, the flooring industry gathered for the inaugural edition of The Flooring Show South, and the
event certainly made an impression. We attended the show and spoke with exhibitors and visitors across the two days, receiving overwhelmingly positive feedback about both the quality of attendees and the opportunities the event created for networking and business development. With strong visitor engagement, product innovation on display and a real sense of momentum across the sector, the launch event proved there is clear appetite for a dedicated southern flooring exhibition. You can read our full review on page 14.
Sustainability remains one of the industry’s defining themes, and this issue explores the topic from several perspectives. On page 16, Cathie Clarke, CEO of the UKSFA, provides an overview of the key sustainability challenges currently facing the flooring sector, alongside the latest regulatory changes businesses should be preparing for. Continuing the theme, Kerakoll UK discusses its strategy for sustainable growth on page 22, highlighting major investment in low-impact facilities and innovation.
Elsewhere, our Floor Seals & Finishes feature focuess on surface protection and maintenance. Lisa Breakspear of Mapei UltraCare shares best-practice advice for enhancing natural stone floors with sealants and finishes, while LTP explores the growing demand for safer, more sustainable surface care products with PFAS-free and water-based treatments.
In Residential Flooring, we showcase inspiring projects including Havwoods’ transformation of a traditional Edwardian property into a calm contemporary home, and EGGER’s installation at a coastal Weymouth development.
Finally, in Public Sector Flooring, we examine the refurbishment of Trinity School in Dagenham, where Forbo Flooring Systems’ Surestep safety vinyl helped deliver a practical and durable learning environment.
We hope you enjoy the issue.
