FLOOR SEALS & FINISHES
For a natural-look finish, we recommend Mapei UltraCare Stain Protector W Plus for all types of finishes to the stone and, for unpolished stone, Stain Protector W; both of these are UV stable, water-based impregnators that allow the stone to breathe. If you have a very dense natural stone, and if you prefer a solvent- based impregnator, then you can use UltraCare Stain Protector S. Again, this is a product that allows the stone to breathe and it’s UV stable. For colour enhancement, you can apply UltraCare Intensifier S for polished stone and UltraCare Intensifier W for unpolished stone. Once again, both products are UV stable and allow the stone to breathe.
A CLOSER LOOK AT ENVIRONMENTAL CONSIDERATIONS
Mapei UltraCare formulations are from the Zero Line, which has been specifically designed to minimise environmental impact across the entire product life cycle. FINISHING WAXES
In addition to the sealers, you can also consider the application of an UltraCare finishing wax. These products can alter the natural finish after the application of a natural-look sealer; UltraCare Lucida creates a high gloss finish and UltraCare Lucida a matt or satin finish. The waxes also offer some additional protection against foot traffic and spillages, and can make maintenance on heavily textured floors easier. In relation to acid spillages, in particular, they can provide a small window for liquid to be mopped up before any etching damage occurs on acid-sensitive stone.
ONGOING MAINTENANCE REGIME
After application of a sealer, a good ongoing maintenance regime using a pH-neutral solution should also be adopted, to maximise lifespan of the protection. Look for a cleaner like UltraCare Multicleaner that delivers high coverage, is rinse-free, and works effectively with floor cleaning machines in large commercial areas.
