FLOORING IN TRANSPORT FAST TRACK
Sunderland Train Station has been refurbished with a comprehensive flooring solution from Tremco CPG UK brands Flowcrete and Tremco.
Flowcrete and Tremco’s systems and product range played a pivotal role in the refurbishment of Sunderland Train Station. The project formed part of the £26m investment of the station and regeneration of the city to improve transport links for residents and visitors.
The station redevelopment included the addition of a new mezzanine floor, plus the creation of a new and improved entrance access for passengers. The project also introduced new amenities such as a café and retail spaces, along with upgraded waiting areas and ticket facilities, providing increased capacity and better station experience for travellers.
Refurbishments of train stations are not very common in the North East, making the Sunderland Train Station refurbishment a key project. This required a comprehensive flooring solution that would seamlessly integrate the subfloor to the finishing touches, ensuring durability, safety, and aesthetic appeal.
The project embraced the expertise of All Floors and Milestone, both Tremco CPG partners renowned for their commitment to quality and excellence. All Floors, having used Tremco products across various previous projects, trusted in the Tremco floor system which included ES100 One Coat Universal Damp Proof Membrane, SX300NA High Performance Latex Underlayment and SF105 Acrylic Adhesive for PVC and Linoleum. Milestone took on Flowcrete‘s system which included Hydraseal – an epoxy resin, liquid applied surface damp proof membrane and SL Renovation – a fibre reinforced underlayment for fast-track renovation and Isocrete PQ – a rapid strength gaining screed and repair mortar for other areas of the refurbishment.
The partnership approach employed in this project showed in the success outcome of the project. The primary benefit to the client
