All other cables have bulky hot-to-cold cable connections that are three times larger than the cables because they’re created during a secondary manufacturing process by soldering and insulating the cables together. ThermoSphere Ultimate has ‘invisible’ connections that are created in-line during the primary manufacturing process. This innovative design results in a cable that is a uniform 4mm thickness end-to-end and that only requires a simple thumb press into the membrane mat and can be installed without tools.
To install other cables with bulky hot-to-cold joints, installers must cut holes into the membrane mat, waterproof layer, and insulation. This is the primary cause of cable failure resulting from installation. It introduces the risk of damaging the cable with a sharp blade and the holes act as air pockets that don’t carry away heat. This leads to overheating and cable failure months after installation, requiring installers and contractors to repair the cable and replace costly flooring and tiling.
