UNIVERSITY HAS FRONT SEAT ON

EVACUATION The University of Strathclyde has teamed up with emergency medical equipment manufacturer, Ferno, to ensure their students, staff and visitors are safe in the event of an emergency. The university, based in Glasgow, has taken delivery of 100 evacuation chairs from Yorkshire- based Ferno, which manufactures a range of patient handling equipment for general industry, hospitals, the emergency services, military and funeral sector.

The new chairs have been manufactured to suit any stairwell and allow people who maybe injured or have mobility problems to be moved downstairs safely and easily, without requiring any heavy lifting or manual handling, should any of the university sites need to be evacuated. All chairs can be folded and wall mounted for easy storage and can be quickly deployed in an emergency.

Ferno has supplied similar equipment to Google’s headquarters in Dublin and Trinity College in the city, as well as sports stadiums around the UK including Celtic, Manchester United, Huddersfield Town, Arsenal and Wembley Arena.

PHS LAUNDRYSERV TARGETS SMALL

BUSINESSES PHS Laundryserv has launched a new washer and dryer, specially created for small businesses that need cost-effective, energy efficient laundry equipment. The SP 105 washer and SD 205 dryer are ideal for sites and businesses which currently use a domestic machine. The 11kg drum offers increased capacity and is designed to process multiple loads a day with low running costs thanks to its low water and energy consumption.

The machines have a quality, stainless steel finish and are designed to be stackable, which means a washer and dryer can be positioned in less than a square metre of floor space, and with its super quiet operation (only 50dB) ensures that it’s positioning won’t intrude on your business.

Stephen Bourdet, National Sales Manager at PHS Laundryserv, said: “This equipment has been developed with small businesses in mind, such as hairdressers, schools and nurseries, small hotels, holiday parks, gyms and sheltered

accommodation. Domestic machines are not designed to be used for daily multiple cycles and a third of domestic washers don’t last five years – and that’s with normal domestic style use! The SP/SD range gives these businesses the opportunity to move up to using a commercial grade washer and dryer without breaking the bank.”

The SP 105 washer and SD 205 dryer are available in OPL and coin operated versions. The coin operated versions feature additional security with both an external and internal

security lock to be able to access the coin vault. The machines also feature standard programmes plus the ability to create programmes tailored to suit businesses individual washing requirements.

The new range offers a cost effective option available on both outright purchase and full service rental.
