RWM 2013
Tomorrow’s FM brings you a snapshot of what’s in store at this year’s premier recycling and waste management show.
This year’s RWM in partnership with CIWM is the perfect opportunity to meet and network with leading recycling and waste management companies and other waste experts. With more than 160 waste experts poised to share their expertise, it’s the largest free CPD-accredited conference programme. The conference also runs alongside more than 750 exhibiting businesses and organisations revealing their latest waste management products and solutions across five NEC halls.
RWM 2013 sees the Secretary of State for Energy and Climate Change, Edward Davey, take the stage as Keynote Speaker this year. Speaking in the Energy from Waste theatre, he will lead three packed days of debate and discussion on the legislation and big issues currently facing those with a resource efficiency and waste management role. As well as discussing the UK’s energy needs, Davey is set to cover the role of energy from waste and how this will support security of supply.

From a private sector perspective in the Commerce and Industry Theatre, Forbes McDougall, Global Wastestreams Owner and Product Supply Waste Team Leader at Proctor and Gamble, will look at zero waste ambitions and new revenue opportunities. He will cover how Proctor and Gamble is dealing with diverse waste streams to avoid landfill and generate income. Dr. Anne Roulin, also speaking in the Commerce and Industry Theatre, will explore Nestlé’s journey to zero waste, focusing on the challenges and opportunities for reducing food waste across the value chain.
Many other inspirational speakers will be appearing across the conference, including Lord Robert Winston, whose inspirational talk will consider how humans are motivated to improve the world around us. Another fascinating talk will be delivered by eco-adventurer Andy Pag, who drove around the world in an old school bus powered by used cooking oil. Ethical living newspaper
journalist, Lucy Siegle, will explore how to get householders to recycle and Professor Dieter Helm, Independent Chair at Defra Natural Capital Committee, will consider where current legislation is leading us and how we can do the best for the environment and the economy.
With many professionals embracing a wider sustainability remit in their role, RWM in partnership with CIWM 2013 is co-located with three complementary events this year – The Energy Event, The Renewables Event and The (new) Water Event. These free to attend events offer answers to the range of business sustainability challenges affecting water and energy management and efficiency.
