ETS is the European association of paper tissue producers. The members of ETS represent the majority of tissue paper producers throughout Europe and around 90% of the total European tissue production.
ETS has among its objectives that of enhancing scientific knowledge on the use of its products through advanced studies performed in collaboration with qualified institutions. A study conducted by the University of Westminster, on behalf of the tissue industry, demonstrated that paper hand towels are the most hygienic solution for drying hands; as a consequence paper towels are a key factor in the prevention of cross contamination. The study confirmed that hand-drying with paper towels significantly decreases bacteria on hands, whereas jet air dryers show a slight increase, and warm air dryers a very important increase of bacteria on hands.
