HydraMaster UK Ltd was formed in 2000 formerly being CarpetMaster UK. John Gotts, Managing Director and Co-Owner of HydraMaster, began trading as CarpetMaster UK in 1995, but the story begins before then.


John started his cleaning business in the mid 1980’s using a portable carpet cleaning machine and soon realised that you could only clean a small amount of carpets in one day with his trusty portable extractor and set about looking for a more productive alternative. Having looked at various ‘dry’ cleaning systems he decided that hot water extraction was the most efficient cleaning system and promptly settled upon a truck-mounted system, which he found to be the most productive type of hot water extraction system.


This was in 1987 and was the first truck- mounted carpet cleaning system in the South West. We still have this very first machine here at Hydramaster!


After purchasing several machines from the same supplier, who was at this time the only UK-based supplier of these machines, it was very apparent that they were unable and unwilling to give any kind of customer service. On one occasion John had to pay for a courier to make a same day round trip to collect/exchange known faulty components to complete work aboard a PO ferry, which was due to set sail. The machine that had failed was only a week or so old and due to the supplying company’s lack of concern and support, he decided there and then to look for alternative machine for his own purposes.


Several months later, and after meeting with various machine manufacturers, he visited HydraMaster corporation, in Seattle, and immediately formed a good relationship with


what was, at the time, a family-owned and operated business. The year was 1995 and we were then known as CarpetMaster UK. We set about building a supply company that was based around giving the very best level of customer service that was possible, along with good value and reliable equipment. In the years that followed, John’s carpet cleaning business went from strength to strength running at time up to 20 machines on a nationwide basis.


John eventually sold this cleaning company to help fund the building of a custom-built premises for supplying, installing and servicing truck-mounts as well as much needed room for stocking a large range of cleaning chemicals and accessories all backed up by our world class customer service. The current truck- mount range consists of seven machines, including petrol, LPG and diesel powered units.


HydraMaster UK is a company devoted to people and their success and are dedicated to bringing the best cleaning equipment and accessories to the UK and European marketplace.
