Chewing gum removal has always been a major problem for the cleaning industry. For many years there has been a plethora of systems that purport to remove chewing gum from all surfaces. In reality, there has never been a solution, until now – a system that safely works on all surfaces.
The wasteful method of high-pressure washing works on concrete and slabs, however one of the major drawbacks is that the sand and grouting gets blown out of the joints. On tarmac and asphalt the high-pressure water melts holes in the softer surface meaning this method simply cannot be used, whilst dry steam machines were sold as the answer to tarmac gum removal. Again, in reality they are unreliable, fail to maintain the pressure required and the noise of a generator often causes more problems than the solution!
The Gumpak Solution With a rechargeable lithium battery to ensure continual use and a small LPG canister to allow a small flame within the coil to be heated, the chemical is vaporized. This then destroys the structure of the gum, which turns all discarded chewing gum into a powder! No longer do you have to spend hours setting up equipment and managing hosepipes and electrical leads.
The Gumpak has total portability, ensuring the operator can safely and easily remove chewing gum from the most difficult surfaces and locations. The operator simply wears the backpack and carries the lance allowing free access up steps, across bridges and through underpasses without any risk to health and safety to the operator or pedestrians.
The Gumpak is successfully being used on the Underground network to ensure Britain is at its best for the Olympic Games.
