Professional Learning & Workshops

Professional Learning and Workshops

Thanks to those who attended the Winter CMP workshop, First Nations workshop at the Fox Cities PAC and the virtual Re/sound: Songs of Wisconsin Project workshop highlighting the new Mashkiiziibii Youth Singers lesson all held this winter. We hope you found great value in your experiences and gained resources for use in your classroom.

This summer we look forward to doing the same – providing great experiences and quality resources for you and your students. This summer’s offerings include the following:

Summer CMP July 8–10

Edgewood High School, Madison

Learn from CMP band, choir, orchestra, general music and studio educators as they share the components and applications of them in the Comprehensive Musicianship Through Performance model. This year’s workshop will be held at Edgewood High School in Madison. For further details and registration information visit the Summer CMP workshop page.

Music EdCamp: An “Unconference” Event August 6

Wisconsin Center for Music Education, Waunakee

This free, collaborative workshop offers music educators the opportunity to share interests, experiences and resources in open, informal sessions – sessions will be suggested and led by you and your col- leagues. This is not a “sit and get” work- shop; instead, the focus is collaboration and building connections on topics that are important to you and music education. Learn more about this process, its format and how to register by visiting the WSMA professional learning page.

Re/sound: Songs of Wisconsin Project New Resources

Take some time this summer to review the new resources added to the WSMA Re/sound: Songs of Wisconsin Project resource pages. View recorded workshops led by performers, curriculum writers and staff. Provide extra emotional support to your students through directly connected mini-lessons. Gather resources that go beyond the educator guides with over 120 searchable resources connected to such things as culture, reformer and music style. All this and more can be found in these valuable resource pages.

Mailing List Rental Opt Out On occasion, WSMA and WMEA rent membership mailing lists to interested parties, such as colleges

and universities. These lists include physical mailing addresses only (never email addresses).

Members may opt out of these lists by logging into their personal account portal profile (wsma.users.membersuite.com) and checking the "Opt Out of Mailing List Rental" box, or by emailing info@wsmamusic.org.
