WMEA News

New for Summer 2023: With inspiration and example from the Illinois CMP Project, the Wisconsin CMP committee is exploring the possibility of a hybrid workshop offering. While these plans are in the early stages, the goal is to offer teachers unable to be on site virtual opportunities to participate in the summer workshop.

The CMP workshop and registration information are all posted on the WSMA website, WMEA CMP Inservice and Workshops page and the WMEA Workshops page.

The North Central Division consists of the leadership teams from nine midwest states. The division meets periodically to discuss, share and advance music education for all.

The WMEA hosted the fall division meeting with some attending in person and others attending virtually. The NAfME Executive Committee attended virtually and shared important information and listened to the concerns of the state leaders. Following state and council reports, topics highlighted at the meeting included the new NAfME Strategic Plan, how states are attracting and retaining music teachers and how future laws will impact music education.

Overall NAfME membership has been increasing since the pan- demic. NAfME hosted a successful Fall National Conference in November and a new Learning Management System has been unveiled for the entire membership on NAfME’s website. If you are looking for a teacher resource, information on standards, membership, advocacy and more, go to www.NAfME.org.
