Rapid, selective labelling of cell surface glycoproteins

Biotium introduces GlycoLiner™ Cell Surface Glycoprotein Labelling Kits, enabling fast, gentle, and highly selective labelling of cell surface glycoproteins. Using next-generation self-catalysing aminooxy chemistry, GlycoLiner™ labels cells efficiently at neutral pH in ~20 minutes at room temperature or 4°C, avoiding harsh buffers or high label concentrations.

The kits include biotin or five bright fluorescent dyes and are fully compatible with fixation, permeabilization, and protein extraction for downstream imaging, flow cytometry, or biochemical analysis.

GlycoLiner™ labelling produces minimal intracellular staining in dead cells, resulting in clearer visualisation of cell boundaries compared to conventional covalent stains.

Kits

“Biotium offers a broad selection of membrane-labelling probes for different workflows,” said Lori Roberts, PhD, Director of Bioscience. “GlycoLiner™ provides a highly selective option for live cell surface glycoproteins that is also compatible with fixation.”

GlycoLiner™ expands Biotium’s portfolio of innovative cell staining tools, giving researchers precise, efficient, and versatile options for cell surface biology studies.

Fluorescent validation for diagnostic devices: Confidence built on calibration

Reliable performance is essential for any fluorescence-based diagnostic device, especially when accuracy affects patient outcomes and regulatory approval. However, many instruments lack integrated fluorescence references, leaving calibration vulnerable to drift and device-to-device inconsistency.

Starna Scientific provides a proven solution: custom solid-state fluorescent references engineered for your device geometry and assay. Designed to match your optical configuration and concentration requirements, each reference integrates seamlessly into your platform, delivering consistent, verifiable results from development through production without the compromises of off-the-shelf alternatives.

Every reference is manufactured to deliver validated multi-year stability and batch-to- batch consistency under our ISO 17034 (Reference Material Producer) accredited Quality Management System. Production items are tested against on-site master

materials; where specified, we validate to primary reference materials from national institutes. Depending on your application, Starna achieves tight coefficients of variance for clinical environments or balance precision with cost-effectiveness for wider deployment.

Starna Scientific’s solid-state fluorescent references are trusted in leading diagnostic platforms worldwide, including immunoassay analysers, microplate readers, and point-of- care systems. Comprehensive traceability documentation supports compliance with FDA 21 CFR 820.72, ASTM E2719, IVDR, and ISO 13485, providing the calibration records and performance verification essential for streamlined validation and successful regulatory submissions.

The company’s technical team works in partnership with your engineers and quality specialists from specification through deployment. Whether integrated directly into your device or deployed across R&D

Amsbio has introduced a new series of Deubiquitinating (DUB) enzyme assay kits that streamline the analysis of DUB activity in both purified systems and cell-based models. Supplied in a convenient 96-well plate format, these ready-to-use kits eliminate the need for substrate preparation - making them ideal for routine use in high-throughput screening and academic research.

and validation, Starna Scientific’s references deliver right-first-time performance you can depend on.

When precision and reliability matter, calibration isn’t an afterthought.

Fluorescent dyes expand immunology panels

Bio-Rad Laboratories has unveiled the first in a fresh series of fluorescent dyes designed specifically for spectral flow cytometry, giving immunologists greater freedom when building multicolour panels.

The launch begins with StarBright UltraViolet700 (SBUV700), a dye optimised for use with spectral instruments. Over the coming months, additional dyes will follow, all tailored to deliver distinctive spectral signatures and strong emission peaks that enhance multiplexing potential.

To support immunology workflows, Bio-Rad has conjugated the new dyes to highly validated antibodies against 46 relevant markers -

including 13 that are newly available in the StarBright collection. These additions open opportunities for deeper immune profiling and the interrogation of complex cell populations.

StarBright dyes are known for their high brightness and narrow excitation/emission profiles, reducing spectral overlap while improving resolution. The new range maintains compatibility across instruments, from Bio-Rad’s ZE5 Cell Analyzer to most other flow cytometers and cell sorters, enabling seamless integration into both existing and exploratory panel designs.

Hilary Mavor, Marketing Director in Bio-Rad’s Life Science Group, commented: “Researchers

Reagents

want the ability to build larger, more sophisticated multicolour panels. By extending our StarBright portfolio, we’re equipping immunologists with tools that not only expand choice but also simplify the design of complex spectral panels.”

With more than 30 dyes now available, Bio-Rad continues to broaden its fluorescent dye offering, directly supporting immunology research at the single-cell level.

Deubiquitinating enzymes are central regulators of the ubiquitin-proteasome system, controlling protein stability and function in key cellular pathways such as autophagy, DNA repair, immune signalling, and cell proliferation. With around 100 known DUBs involved in both normal physiology and disease mechanisms - including cancer, neurodegeneration, and inflammation - they represent promising targets for therapeutic intervention.

Each AMSBIO DUB assay kit uses a ubiquitin-based substrate labelled with a fluorophore, enabling sensitive and specific detection of enzyme activity via a microplate reader (excitation: 485 nm, emission: 535 nm). Kits are available for a variety of disease-relevant enzymes, including BAP1, USP7, and UCHL1, supporting precise profiling and inhibitor screening efforts.

Designed for both kinetic and endpoint analysis, these assay kits require minimal setup and deliver robust, reproducible results. Researchers in drug discovery, molecular biology, and cellular signalling can now accelerate their workflows while maintaining high data quality.

Applications include studies in tumour suppression, neurodegenerative disease mechanisms, immune response regulation, and more.
