Azure Biosystems announces the release of the Sapphire FL Biomolecular Imager, a ground-breaking new imaging system which introduces a patent- pending, fully customisable, user-interchangeable laser-filter module mechanism that allows you to either choose the laser-filter pairs best suited for your research, or create your own laser-filter pairs.


The new Sapphire FL supports multicolour visible, chemiluminesent, phosphor imaging, and NIR fluorescence with excitation wavelengths between 365 nm and 850 nm and emission wavelengths between 380 nm and 900 nm.


It has a large 25 cm x 25 cm imaging area with a 4-cm clearance and upgraded high-resolution abilities that now allow you to image down to 5 microns. In addition to imaging flat samples such as gels, membranes, and slides, the Sapphire FL can image 3D samples, like petri dishes, multi-well plates, plants, tissues, and small, live experimental animals, thanks to five built-in anaesthesia ports. New Electroporation System Enhances Cell Transfection


Thermo Fisher Scientific has released the Invitrogen Neon NxT Electroporation System, a state-of-the-art device that maximises the transfection efficiency, cell recovery, and reproducibility of challenging cell types.


Thanks to the optimally spaced Neon NxT electrodes, which create a uniform electric field, scientists can achieve desired cell modifications in a greater number of cells while losing fewer during the transfection process. The device also includes ergonomic enhancements and an improved feedback loop.


The Neon NxT system is built on the core technology of the Neon Transfection System and simplifies electroporation while reducing cell mortality and contamination risk. The new system’s scalability enables researchers to move from initial research to clinical cell therapy development and GMP-compliant cell therapy manufacturing without re-optimising electroporation parameters. The device is suitable for gene and protein expression research, cell line development, gene silencing, and genome editing.
