20 Water / Wastewater Titan Enterprises Releases Second Generation Pulsite®
As the newest addition to its line of fl ow measuring instruments and displays, Titan Enterprises is releasing the second generation Pulsite® converter. With the help of the Pulsite®
Link pulse and analogue Link, users may convert common pulse output fl ow
metres, such Titan’s precision turbine fl owmeters and positive displacement fl owmeters, to scaled and linearised analogue and NPN/PNP outputs.
Neil Hannay, Senior Development Engineer with Titan Enterprises, says: “As part of Titan’s product portfolio development, once a new product has been out on the market for a time, we are able to gather data that facilitates our understanding about what the priority is for the customer, as well as identify potential improvements to product performance.” First launched in August 2022, Titan’s R&D team have incorporated a number of revisions to the Pulsite® Link Mark 2, building on both the software performance and physical design of the fl ow measurement instrument.
Titan’s proprietary Interface Software, in addition to allowing the user to confi gure and test the system via USB and a computer, now has greater capacity for data-logging, ideal for laboratory tests and applications. Increased inputs for calibration data can be entered in order to linearise the fl owmeter signal for superior accuracy.
Link
The pulse and analogue converter has been redesigned to enable the USB stick to be inserted into the unit without needing to disassemble it. This allows for real-time monitoring and data-logging via a Windows PC.
The Pulsite® Link is an ideal instrument to
connect to customer devices for increased accuracy on mechanical fl ow devices, data monitoring, test rigs and control systems.

Analysis of 8 Polychlorinated Biphenyls (PCB) in environmental matrices by GC-MS/MS
PCBs are resistant to decomposition in the environment, and tend to accumulate in living organisms. As a result, they are designated as POPs (Persistent Organic Pollutants). In monitoring these environmental pollutants in river water and sludge, sensitivity for the detection of trace quantities and separation from impurities in the samples become important issues. An application from Shimadzu demonstrates the analysis of 8 different PCB over a broad calibration range (0.1 μg/L to 200 μg/L). Instrument calibration was done using an internal standard approach. 8 levels between 0.1 μg/L and 200 μg/L have been measured for calibration and resulted in R2-value above 0.9995 for all compounds. Stability evaluation of the calibration was done using the internal standard (ISTD) stability. Each sample contained identical amount of ISTD spiked at the end of sample preparation. Excellent sensitivity combined with a high linear dynamic range was shown for standards and real world samples in PCB analysis using GCMSMS. Excellent sensitivity combined with a high linear dynamic range was shown for standards and real world samples in PCB analysis using GCMSMS.

Simple, reliable and precise ammonia measurement in water
CHEMetrics announces the release of a new Vacu-vials test kit which employs the Direct Nesslerization method to measure ammonia in drinking water, clean surface water, good-quality nitrifi ed wastewater effl uent, and seawater. The new K-1513 instrumental test kit offers an extended shelf-life advantage over our existing K-1503 and K-1523 Nessler ammonia Vacu-vials test kits. K-1513 is offered as an alternative to these kits when a longer shelf life is desirable and refrigerated storage is not an option. This test kit can be used to measure the concentration of ammonia in seawater by using the A-1503 Accessory Solution Pack sold separately. The K-1513 Vacu-vials Ammonia Test Kit comes in a cardboard box and contains everything needed to perform 30 tests: thirty ampoules, Stabilizer Solution, 25 mL sample cup, 3-mL syringe, ampoule blank, and instructions. This kit requires the use of a CHEMetrics Direct-Readout Photometer or a spectrophotometer capable of accepting a 13 mm diameter round cell. Instrument sold separately.

The Levelogger 5 LTC offers a number of useful features, including an 8-year battery life, memory for 100,000 sets of readings, and 6 pressure ranges. A PFAS-free coating baked on using polymerisation technology (inside and out) provides superior corrosion and abrasion resistance.
The 4-electrode platinum conductivity sensor has a wide calibrated conductivity range, with auto-ranging from 0 to 100,000 µS/cm. For the highest accuracy, calibration is from 50 to 80,000 µS/cm. Ideal for providing a general indication of water quality. More information online:

Pyroscience recently launched the APHOx-S-O2, a compact underwater sensor for dissolved oxygen measurement in shallow water. The device uses a robust optical principle based on an oxygen-sensitive luminescent dye, and is factory calibrated for temperature-compensated oxygen measurements.
Designed specifi cally for measurements in aquacultures and surface waters, the APHOx-S-O2 features a corrosion and biofouling-resistant copper alloy housing, which enables operation at up to 50 meters depth. The meter also provides an RS485 interface and 4 analogue outputs (2x 4-20 mA. 2x 0-5V) for easy integration into various control systems.
With its innovative REDFLASH technology, the APHOx-S-O2 impresses with its high precision, high reliability, low cross- sensitivity, and fast response times. The REDFLASH sensor materials are activated with red light and show an analyte- dependent luminescence in the near-infrared (NIR) range, which signifi cantly reduces interference caused by auto- fl uorescent samples.
In addition to the digital interface and protocol, a broadcast mode can be confi gured where the device measures in a pre-defi ned interval and provides real-time measurement results at the analogue outputs, without requiring digital communication.
