The PPMonitor wireless unit is the latest IAQ Profile Monitor to be launched by PPM Technology Ltd (UK) to assist with all your monitoring applications and requirements.
The PPMonitor system provides a complete visual representation of indoor air quality in a building by allowing the user to control and run several wireless IAQ sampling units – all communicating together via the sophisticated and reliable Zigbee wireless mesh system.
Each PPMonitor wireless unit can monitor 3 to 8 different IAQ para- meters,. These are then transmitted to a controller PC with the PPMonitor software installed, providing a complete graphical representation of current IAQ levels in the building.
PPMonitor software can produce reports and statistical date, run schedules as well as alarm functions and notifications for more effective and economical building management.
The PPMonitor Wireless unit incorporates a variety of advanced gas sensor technologies to monitor the target gases including NDIR, PID and electrochemical.

Bruel & Kjaer UK Service Centre Launch Online Tracking Tool
Bruel and Kjaer (UK) has launched an interactive tracking tool, so customers can instantly check the progress of their instruments whilst in for service or repair.
Run via Bruel and Kjaer UK’s website (
www.bksv.co.uk) this new facility offers free collection of products for calibration - from anywhere in the UK - and provides a tracking number which can be used to make a direct check on the status, whereabouts and return date of equipment throughout its service.
The tracking tool joins a host of standard service benefits on offer to customers including: Pre Calibration Inspection tests to ensure items are fit for calibration, free minor repairs during calibration and access to loan instruments.
Bruel and Kjaer operates a flexible service range, allowing customers to make individual purchases or combine a variety of requests into a single service agreement.

Bruel & Kjaer UK’s Calibration Laboratory offers UKAS accredited calibration conforming to the demands of a wide range of customers. Accreditation is approval given by an official authority to a calibration laboratory. To obtain this approval, the calibration laboratory is subject to an in-depth assessment with respect to both formal Quality Management controls and technical competency.
The assessment is carried out in accordance with internationally accepted standards, for example the ISO 17025 standard. The international acceptance is obtained through multinational mutual agreements.

New Pocket Size Detector Ideal for Detecting Gamma Sources
Nemo is a new, low-cost, pocket-size nuclear event monitor from Southern Scientific (UK) that is designed to find elicit nuclear materials on people in crowded areas. It conforms to IAEA recommendations for gamma radiation monitoring at borders making it ideal for use in customs and border security, first responders, the emergency services, military, airports and building security and event security.
Small, it measures only 117 x 79 x 24mm, Nemo is supplied with a belt clip and protective pouch and uses a well-proven, high sensitivity caesium iodide detector and compact photo-multiplier tube to provide a faster than one second response thus making it an invaluable tool for detecting all gamma radiation sources.
Simplicity of design makes Nemo ideal for use by non-technical personnel. When gamma radiation is detected, Nemo displays a
number from I to 9 and either gives a loud audible alarm or vibrates while displaying the numbers I to 9 that represent nine preset alarm levels. A source can be located or avoided by responding to the change in alarm and the number displayed as the distance to the source varies.
Unlike other instruments the Nemo continuously carries out self-checks, monitoring battery level, count data integrity and detector voltage ensuring reliable, trouble-free use. The low power design ensures long battery life from standard AA cells and a non-volatile memory means that no data is lost while batteries are being changed. An infra-red PC communication port is provided as standard that allows connection to a PC.

The solution is the size of a key fob, weighs 20 gms, and when activated emits a continuous sound at 80dB. If the Oi-Noise tool from Uvex can be clearly heard when held about 40 cm from the ear (half an arms length) then you know that the ambient noise is below the 80dB action level. The product is battery powered, pocket sized and inexpensive; it requires no training to use, and the results of this simple noise assessment require no interpretation. The idea has won awards and accreditations from IOSH, the BSIF, the British Chamber of Commerce and even London South Bank University for its simplicity and economy. Oi was designed by a chartered health and safety practitioner to allow anyone to identify noise hazards in the workplace without special knowledge or training. It is now being marketed by uvex, which also distributes a range of hearing protection from traditional high quality ear muffs to ear plugs such as the new Hi-Com.
