SENSOR+TEST 2019 to focus on process automation, whilst offering incentives for start-up companies to join the community
SENSOR+TEST will continue with further focal themes special exhibitor groups, which are always appealing features when attracting visitors to the internationally leading trade fair for sensor, measuring, and testing technology in Nuremberg. Start-up enterprises, located in Germany, will benefit from an outstanding and cost-effective opportunity to present their new developments for the first time to an international audience of technical professionals aided by government funding.
The diversity of sensors and measuring devices for process technology has always been a core aspect of SENSOR+TEST. Since the all- encompassing advent of digitalisation, extending to process automation as well, the demands on sensors and measuring systems has increased as greatly as their importance for industry at large. Whether we look at newly developed measuring processes, self-monitoring sensor networks, or process-analysis systems with cloud and AI support, the special topic of SENSOR+TEST 2019 offers suppliers and users the opportunity to participate in the innovation dialogue on novel concepts, products, and solutions for this important area of application. Companies and institutes with specialised expertise in process technology can present their products and services with a low-cost full package at the “Sensor and Measuring Technology for Process Automation” special forum
Young enterprises often have more ideas than money. To facilitate the participation of start-ups at trade fairs in Germany, the Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Energy (BMWi) has initiated a grant program assuming up to 60% of the incurred costs for stand rent and assembly. The SENSOR+TEST exhibition is among the chosen, qualified fairs for the twelfth time. The funding is granted for participation at the Innovation Made in Germany community stand. Young enterprises located in Germany that present new developments in the field of sensor, measuring, or testing technology may participate. The start-ups should not be older than ten years, have over fifty employees, nor an annual turnover of more than ten million euros.

Shipping and natural gas among industries which rely on gas detection tubes for safety
As Uniphos Envirotronic Pvt. Ltd. celebrates its 25th year of operation in 2018, the evolution of the company and its products is impressive. The first Uniphos tube developed in 1993 was for phosphine to address an emerging need at a metal phosphide laboratory at United Phosphorus Limited (UPL). Encouraged by the initial success, research and development continued until phosphine detector tubes as well as pistons and barrel pumps were perfected in 1994.
Today, the application of these detector tubes is not just limited to phosphine. Uniphos has more than 300 different detector tubes for measurement of hundreds of gases and vapours for ambient air, compressed air and ions in water, along with a variety of air sampling pumps.
With this vast array of products, Uniphos supports many industries including shipping and natural gas. Shipping containers may contain a number of toxic gases and vapours. One such vapour is benzene which evolves from leather goods such as belts, wallets and purses. Rather than simply opening the large sealed doors, a tube or a probe is inserted through the container door to pull a sample of the atmosphere in the container. In the natural gas sector, they use detector tubes as a simple and economical means to check gas wells and natural gas terminals for the concentrations of water vapour, hydrogen sulphide, carbon dioxide and ethyl mercaptan.
Being the only manufacturer to offer two lines of gas detector tubes (Uniphos and KwikDraw), Uniphos is looking forward to the next era of gas detection innovation to continue supporting these industries. Please visit our website to learn more.

Major US utility company invests $1.4million on 3 year contract for on safety monitoring equipment and services
A major utility company in the United States has purchased $1.4M of Blackline Safety Corp. connected safety products with services to be delivered over three-years. Under this order, Blackline will deploy its combination gas detection and safety monitoring system for remote locations, comprised of G7x employee- worn monitors and vehicle-mounted G7 Bridge portable satellite base stations.
“Blackline operates at the forefront of the connected safety industry, helping businesses keep their teams safe while automating their need to ensure a gas detection program that meets regulatory compliance,” said Sean Stinson, VP Sales & Product Management at Blackline Safety. “We continue to see strong customer commitments in other industries, including natural gas distribution, water / wastewater and other heavy industries.”
Blackline’s G7 connected safety portfolio was built to deliver comprehensive and turn- key monitoring solutions that address the shortcomings of traditional ‘beep-and-flash’ gas detectors. Blackline’s G7x system provides a wirelessly-connected solution that delivers monitoring capability in locations beyond 3G coverage — areas that are difficult for competitor offerings to address. G7x connects workers to monitoring personnel through a satellite uplink offered by the G7 Bridge portable base station. In the event of an emergency, the live monitoring team manages a real-time emergency response directly to the employee’s location.
G7x devices are managed within Blackline Live, Blackline’s state-of-the-art web portal that provides administrative tools for businesses to manage their gas detection and safety monitoring program. Blackline Live combines comprehensive emergency response management tools, a compliance dashboard and Blackline Analytics — all in one convenient, easy-to-use cloud-hosted platform.
