Lazar Scientific, Inc. is the sales and service representative for Stanhope- Seta in the United States. Stanhope-Seta designs and manufactures quality control instruments used to measure fuel characteristics that determine product quality and consistency.

The Seta PM-93 for ASTM D93 is a fully automated Pensky-Martens Closed Cup Flash Point Tester which combines strict method conformance with the latest control technology and safety systems to provide the next generation of flash point instruments. An intuitive graphical user interface and 8.4” SVGA color touch screen operation provide unparalleled ease of use with a real-time display of test progress.

Seta Analytics has introduced the AvCount particle counter, ASTM D7619 to address the problems with the cleanliness of fuels. ASTM D7619 is now included in D975 and IP565 is included in DEFSTAN 91-091.

The H2S Analyser (ASTM D7621, IP570) determines H2S levels in the liquid phase of Marine and distillate fuels and is included in ISO8217. The FIJI instrument detects trace level FAME in JET fuel (ASTM D7797, IP583), middle distillates and residuals (ASTM D7963). FIJI is included in product specifications ASTM D1655, DEFSTAN 91-091 and ISO 8217.

The Seta Analytics AFIDA, ASTM D8183, IP617, and CEN EN17155 provides a fully automated measurement of the Indicated Cetane Number of Diesel, BioDiesels and JET fuel. The analyzer provides fast, efficient determinations by way of an integral 36 position auto-sampler. AFIDA correlates to ASTM D613 with no bias and is included in D975 as well as authorized for use with BS EN590.

Lazar Scientific, Inc. has now extended its partnership to represent the full Tannas and King laboratory instrument lines throughout the United States extending LSI’s sales efforts to the Tannas instrument line of lubricating oils, greases, fuels, and related fluids.

Tannas Co’s. equipment is required for meeting several international specifications, including the first and only field proven non-liquid ‘dry cylinder’ RPVOT (RBOT) instrument used for ASTM D2272 testing, ASTM D2112 testing.

The Quantum™ Oxidation Tester for ASTM D2272, D2112 – RPVOT: Rotating Pressure Vessel Oxidation Test, ASTM D4742 – TFOUT: Thin Film Oxygen Uptake Test, and ASTM D942 – Grease Oxidation Stability Test, is the only field-proven non-liquid RPVOT instrument in the industry used for evaluating oxidation resistance over a broad range of oils and lubricants and is widely used for base oil comparisons and as a condition monitoring tool for turbine oils.

King Refrigeration is best known for their highly precise and robust refrigeration baths for viscosity and cloud and pour point testing.

The King Brookfield Liquid Bath (BLB) measures low- temperature viscosity of ATF’s, gear oils and hydraulic oils and other fluid lubricants using a patented SimAir® technique allowing the use of a small, less costly, constant temperature liquid bath. The only technique available that permits independent sample analyses which eliminates the need for batch sample testing for ASTM D2983.

Orbis BV

For More Info, email: email:

Concentrating on continually improving their automatic atmospheric distillation units, which comply with ASTM methods D86, D850, and D1078, Orbis BV introduced their newest instrument the Orbis STARDist. Early-on detection of the distillation behavior and smart internal algorithms enable real-time accurate heater control. This results in “right-in-time” IBP detection and a distillation rate that is kept smoothly between 4 and 5 ml per minute, even with more difficult blends such as 20% ethanol-in- gasoline. Automatic final heat adjustment from 5% remaining in flask is optimised for any type of sample, even for “heavy tail” samples.
