Pulp Paper & Logistics

COMMENT

the return to normality is going to be longer than we expected.

W Demand from consumers for home delivery of food and

goods continues to drive the need for even more paper- based packaging that is both sustainable and recyclable, and this demand is driving producers of all packaging grades to not only increase production but also offer a wider range of products to meet sustainable criteria.

Replacing materials that are unrecyclable comes at a cost and with raw material costs continuing to increase this is putting even more pressure on the need for cost savings in manufacture, which is provided by investment in state-of- the-art systems.

On a positive note the drive for sustainable packaging is

producing some great collaborations between mills and their suppliers within the food and beverage sector to achieve a more circular economy.

Looking ahead our next issue 68 for September-October,

we plan to feature the following topics: machine clothing; papermaking additives; recycling technology and pulp production.

Editorial submissions should arrive for consideration by Friday 3 September.
