Smurfit’s Iurreta mill to use ANDRITZ maintenance


S


murfit Kappa Nervion in Spain has signed a deal with Andritz Ingeniería to provide


industrial maintenance services for its mill at Iurreta. The Andritz maintenance


team will provide support during scheduled maintenance and emergency maintenance activities conducted in the course of routine operations and shutdowns, working together seamlessly with the current Smurfit Kappa maintenance team and providing proven process maintenance expertise to ensure high plant reliability, availability, and efficiency. This

More updates for Umka Cardboard Mill in Serbia


As part of the rebuild at Umka Cardboard Mill in Serbia, Valmet will also be supplying recycled fibre lines. While Valmet’s rebuild – to


increase Umka’s production capacity and improve end- product quality – will be completed in the second half of 2021, the fibre lines are scheduled to start up in the first half of 2022. Milos Ljusic, Umka’s managing


director, commented: “We are delighted that an end-to- end solutions provider like Valmet is supplying us with the recycled fibre lines for our cardboard mill rebuild. Umka has an 82-year long history


and with the ability to increase our capacity to over 200,000 tons, while also improving our recycled cardboard products, this equipment perfectly positions us for continued success in the future.” Valmet will be making


substantial changes to the recycled fibre lines for Umka’s PM1 paper machine. These include an old corrugated containers line with reject handling and a rebuild of two deinked pulp lines. Part of the KappaStar Group,


Umka Cardboard Mill has production capacity for 130,000 tons per year and exports 83 per cent of its output.

Million-ton boxboard line ordered by Asia Symbol


A paper making line with capacity for producing one million tons of boxboard a year has been ordered from Voith by Asia Symbol for its mill at Rugao, north west of Shanghai in China. The BM13 line will be making


coated folding boxboard in the 170-400 g/sqm basis range at a speed of 1,400 metres per minute when it starts up in mid- 2023.

at Voith Paper, says: “We are absolutely delighted that Asia Symbol has underscored our long-standing and very trusting cooperation with this major order. “With the BM13 in Rugao,


we will supply a highly efficient system as a full-line supplier that enables optimised and


resource-saving production of folding boxboard. The order is complemented by the latest automation technologies.” Designed as one of the most


efficient board machines in the world, the order covers the entire paper production process from BlueLine stock preparation, the wet end process, including water- saving FlowJec chemical dosing technology, to the XcelLine paper machine and two VariFlex Performance winders with a fully automated Flying Splice reel change. Part of the RGE Group, Asia


Symbol produces pulp and paper with its main products being BHKP, NBKP, DP, liquid packaging board, high-grade ivory board and uncoated wood-free printing and office paper.
