climate change THE war on reducing carbon emissions has really started in Maidstone.


Maidstone Borough Council’s current climate action plan in- cludes a 32% reduction by 2030 rising to 45% by 2050, the latest full council meeting under the new Conservative administration was told. Answering public questions by Maidstone’s stalwart Green Party activist Stuart Jeffery, council leader and chairman of the policy and resources committee, Cllr David Burton, said: “Is this enough – no, it is not. I am deter- mined.” He pledged that climate change would be considered in every de- cision made now by the council.

Ramblin’ Man’s rm goes into liquidation


THE company behind the Ram- blin' Man Fair (RMF) in Mote Park has gone into liquidation - but it is hoped the event will still return next year. The festival of classic rock had been cancelled again this year. Hove-based Spirit of Rock Ltd is


now in voluntary liquidation with accounts overdue, according to Companies House. Winding up the company, run by Frank McGowan and Chris Ingham, started on June 30.
