NEARLY a decade ago, the Lon- don Olympics were enhanced not just by the sport and the spectacle but by a band of volunteers known as "games makers". They were ordinary people who

made an extraordinary difference to one of the most prestigious sporting events ever staged. Now Heart of Kent Hospice is

looking for its very own "trail mak- ers" to help deliver Maidstone’s first free public art trail. Elmer’s Big Heart of Kent Pa- rade, which runs from June 19 to August 22, needs ociable, enthusi- astic volunteers over the age of 18 to cover shifts during the week and at weekends.

The Elmer trail makers will be stationed along the trail and at two town centre Elmer shops to engage with visitors, provide information and directions, and to represent the Heart of Kent Hospice.

Volunteers are also needed to

drive a branded vehicle and to or- ganise visits to schools, companies and local events. Over the nine weeks, members of the public can take part in the free walking trail to discover 51 Elmer sculptures across the town.
