2020 ORHA The Year That Was
By Dan Fletcher. As the 2020 season has come to an
end, we look back at all of the things that have made this a year we will never forget. March took us to a new world of
Covid19, and the facts that there may not be ORHA shows in 2020 were a reality. As time passed we were lucky enough to begin a very shortened season. Starting In

July with the Triple Threat Reining Clinic, three of the best trainers in the country were on hand, Loris Epis, Jonathan Newn- ham and Chet Martin each spent three days helping every participant prepare and im- prove their horses. All of the added pro- tocols were in place including added wash stations, social distancing and masks to keep everyone safe and happy to be riding. The first actual show was held the fol-

lowing weekend at Fletchers Horseworld in Waterford and all competitors were chomping at the bit to start their show sea- son. It was great to see people doing what was making them happy as the first show of the year was completed. The 2nd 2020 show was again held in Waterford, payouts were huge as everyone was trying to score big and take home the added monies and points for the year end. It was nice to see
competitors from other disciplines that had not been able to show, try there hardest at reining and to experience all the fun and friendship from the ORHA. Our Eastern Canadian Affiliate Finals was held in mid-
September and was the largest reining show in recent memory. Competitors from Ontario and Quebec were vying for wins and qualifiers for the North American Affiliates in Oklahoma. Shows of this magnitude would not be possible without the sup- port of our members and terrific sponsors. It was also the final show for the OBBO futurity with its fantastic payouts and awe- some prizes, all being managed by Leona McAtee. The new ORHA futurity started with a 2 year old prospect class that was well attended by quality reiners. Planning has already begun for the 2021 affiliate finals to be held in Ontario, so make sure to mark your calendars for this amazing event. With a lot of hard work and dedication from members,
sponsors, as well as John and Sharon Fletcher of Fletchers Horseworld for providing their great facility, we were able to complete a scaled down version of our show season and will be able to present year end awards for Champions and Reserve Champions with the help of everyone that sponsored these classes. Our annual awards banquet and AGM usually held in the
last week of January will probably be delayed or postponed due to Covid19, but we will do our best to keep you all up to date on our future plans and the 2021 show season.

his 101st birthday on Sunday, De- cember 5, 2020, with a parade of 101 vehicles driven past his home in Stoney Creek, Ontario. Jack was a Lancaster Bomber Pilot and served in the Royal Canadian Air Force during WWII. A Drive By Birthday greeting
was a horse drawn wagon owned by his family, Bri-Mar Farms of Blackheath, ON. Brian Walker drove a beautiful matched pair of Registered Clydesdales at end of the parade. Congratulations Jack.
