Assault claim after collision


A MAN was allegedly assaulted following a collision in East Far- leigh.


There was an incident involving


a car and a van in Farleigh Lane, at about 9.05am on Tuesday, October 13. It was reported a woman, who was driving the car, assaulted the male van driver following the in- cident. A Kent Police spokesman said: “Police were called regarding a re- port that a man was assaulted fol- lowing a collision involving a car and a van in East Farleigh. “The collision happened in Far-


leigh Lane at about 8.30am, after which it is alleged there was an al- tercation involving the woman who was driving the car and the van driver, during which the man was assaulted.


“Officers are investigating the incident and anybody with infor- mation is asked to call the appeal line on 01622 604100, quoting ref- erence 13-0238.”


Police chase


A SNODLAND man has been charged after a police chase. Peter Taylor (28), of Simpson Road, is reported to have failed to stop for Kent Police officers in Tonbridge on October 7. It is alleged that a Ford Fiesta


sped off in York Parade and after a chase, including the use of a heli- copter, the vehicle was found abandoned in Vigo Road an hour later.

Taylor was charged with danger- ous driving, driving otherwise than in accordance with a licence and driving without insurance. He appeared before Medway Magistrates’ Court and was re- manded to a hearing at Maidstone Crown Court on November 10.

Fraudster jailed after a £700 roof tile scam


TWO Maidstone pensioners were scammed out of more than £700 after a fraudster convinced them they needed new roof tiles.


Paddy Doran (31) showed up at the couple’s house in Church Road on three separate occasions in March 2020.


He told the couple their roof tiles urgently needed replacing and said whoever had initially in- stalled them had used stolen ma- terials.


A Kent Police spokesman said: “The roof was actually in good order and the victims were misled by Doran. They were persuaded to hand over the cash and the work he promised was never completed. “Doran then tried to get them to draw out a further £1,200.” Doran (pictured) was arrested and charged with fraud by false representation and driving a ve- hicle without insurance after it was discovered that the car he was seen driving was not regis- tered to him. Investigating officer, DC Mark Newman, said: “Anyone can be- come a victim of fraud, but it is usually the most vulnerable in our society who are targeted. “Doran misled his victims and conned them out of a large sum of money, clearly with no intention of ever working for that money. Whilst there are many legitimate businesses out there, we continue to urge people and those living next door to vulnerable individu- als to be guarded against doorstep callers.

and two sets of scales. He was ar- rested and £480 was recovered in a a search of his home in Conifer Drive, Chatham. Islam was later charged with possessing cocaine with intent to supply. He pleaded guilty at Maid- stone Crown Court. On Wednesday, October 21, he


was sentenced to two years and eight months in prison.
