Jail for driver who hit 3 women crossing road


A HIT-and-run driver in a stolen car, who left two of his victims with life-changing injuries, has been jailed for more than five years.


Abie Ianson (24), of Lunford Lane, Larkfield, ploughed into three women who were waiting at a zebra crossing in West Malling on March 11, 2020. The disqualified driver then


drove away in the stolen Ford Fiesta and abandoned the car in Twisden Road, East Malling. Two of the women suffered life-changing injuries. A car had stopped to allow the women to cross when Ianson, who was travelling from the op- posite direction, swerved to avoid a parking car, and contin- ued over the crossing, knocking the women to the ground. Ianson was arrested on March 19 and later charged with two counts of causing serious injury

Court and on Wednesday, Octo- ber 14, he was sentenced to five years and one month in prison. He was also banned from driving for six years and 11 months. FOUR parks in Maidstone have been given Green Flag awards. They are Mote Park, Clare Park, Whatman Park and Cobtree Manor Park. The awards are given by Keep Britain Tidy scheme, which ac- knowledged how the borough’s green spaces have been a “lifeline” this year.
