Blasch has designed a new family of parts and design
philosophy for ceramic core setters, core setter materials and associated furnace kiln furniture products. As described in the published paper “Improving Thermal
Conditions and Reducing Process Costs for Core Setters in Aerospace and IGT Applications” Blasch has designed a ceramic core setter configuration that offers a thermally optimized shape which will provide a more even sintering temperature. This change, along with using less thermal energy to get to that planned sintering temperature is a major improvement over current standard ceramic core setter technology. In addition, kiln furniture designs can be offered that additionally increase heat flow around the ceramic core setter and reduces the amount of kiln furniture required to accomplish this. New ceramic core setter materials have also been
developed that provide a substantial improvement over a current industry standard creep-resistant brick material. This improvement has also been realized in the production use of core setters made from this material showing improvement in core setter life and tolerance stability over repeated firings.
