Art in Public Places
The development team recognizes the importance of art education. In each one of our communities we com-
mission a local artist to create a mural, original sculpture, mosaic or other form of artwork. The continued commit- ment to Art in Public Places aims to provide a sense of community to each property. Quite often local children are provided the opportunity to participate in the artist’s creation, thereby creating a sense of pride and achieve- ment within their neighborhood. Aria Grand is pleased to have Ethan Azarian of Blue Cow Studios and students from Travis Heights Elementary’s beautiful murals to de- light our visitors and residents alike. Please go by and ad- mire the wonderful job they did - maybe even get a bud- ding artists autograph.
Ethan Azarian has resided in Austin for the last 30 years. His work is part of many private and commercial collec- tions. Ethan is fiscally sponsored by Austin Creative Alli- ance and receives funding from the City of Austin’s Cul-
tural Arts Division for community-based art projects. A recent project at Travis Heights Elementary School was completed where he and the students designed and painted a series of murals on the exterior walls of the school.
Currently a full-time painter and musician, Ethan and his wife Melissa founded the Blue Cow Studio and have curated and pro- duced 40 exhibitions of established and emerging Austin artists. In addition, they exhibit and promote their own work during Austin's East Austin Studio Tour.
Ethan was invited to participate in cultural exchange events in Angers, France (2016) and Oita, Japan (2018), Austin’s Sister cities, as a representative of Austin's cultural arts community, as both a visual artist and performing musician.
Born in a small town in Vermont, Ethan was raised on a small family farm. His mother a print maker and father a musician. In 1989 he moved to Austin, TX to pursue a career in art and music. Having no formal training, Ethan is a self-taught artist and musi- cian.
