Austin Housing Finance Corporation Celebrated Two New Developments in January


NHCD Highlights Opening of Two New Affordable Housing Com- plexes


During the week of January 20, Neighborhood Housing and Com- munity Development (NHCD) joined in celebrating the grand open- ing of two new affordable housing complexes, which combined will create 89 new affordable housing units for low-income households and youths at risk of homelessness.


On January 21, non-profit developer LifeWorks hosted the Grand Opening of Life Works ll, a 29-unit affordable housing community to help youth and young families with housing and an extensive array of supportive services. The project was supported in part by $1.8 million made available through the City of Austin’s Rental Housing Development Assistance program and federal grant funding admin- istered by the Austin Housing Finance Corporation.


On January 22, NHCD joined with O-SDA Industries and Saigebrook Development for the Grand Opening of the Aria Grand Apart- ments. Supported in part by $1.5 million made available by the Austin Housing Finance Corporation, the new complex provides 70 new apartment units, 60 of which are set aside for households making between 30 and 60 percent of Austin’s median family income. Some of those units will be dedicated as Permanent Supportive Housing to serve those experiencing homelessness or disability.
