Member Spotlights John Sabatier | Stifel
As a Managing Director with Stifel, Nicolaus & Co. (“Stifel”) in its Public Finance Housing Group, my primary focus is on the Multifamily Affordable Housing industry. I have served this industry for over 20 years since being first hired as a development analyst back in 1997. My combined experience includes developing, operating, and financing communities in this product space. Prior to joining Stifel, I had the good fortune to work with some incredible institutions such as Bank of America’s CDC, JLL Capital Markets, and RBC Municipal Financing where I began my municipal career and closed over $1 billion in Municipal Bond transactions.
I have a passion for this industry and believe in the purpose we all share to provide a better standard of living to households that need our help. As a Managing Director with Stifel, I have exposure to vast resources and capabilities, through our affiliate entities and as a market leading municipal broker dealer.
Our ability to provide Multifamily Municipal Debt solutions is unmatched, as evidenced by Stifel being named the #1 Multifamily Municipal Bond Underwriter for 2019, for the 7th year in a row. I look forward to a long relationship with TALHFA and meeting its members.
Laura Greff | Naman Howell Smith & Lee, PLLC
I joined the firm’s Austin office in 2019. My public finance practice includes assisting issuers, developers, and trustees in connection with tax-exempt debt financings involving multifamily housing developments.
I have broad experience serving as counsel to borrowers and lenders in real estate finance transactions, as well as representing clients in a wide range of corporate and transactional matters. Prior to joining Naman Howell, I practiced law with several other prominent firms in Texas, as well as previously serving as Assistant General Counsel to the Employees Retirement System of Texas.
I am a native Texan, received my J.D. from The University of Texas School of Law, with honors, and gradu- ated from The University of Texas at Austin with a BBA in Management Information Systems. I am excited to be a new member of TALHFA and look forward to getting involved, connecting, and building relation- ships with affordable housing industry experts.
Max Whipple | The NRP Group, Development Associate
I spent my upbringing in metro-Detroit and am a recent addition to the Lonestar state. I am a 2019 graduate of the University of Michigan, with a major in Economics and a minor in Mandarin Chinese. I interned with the NRP team following my junior year of college and have returned in a full-time capacity, working on the development team with a focus on site acquisition and project management across our Texas affordable housing portfolio. I look forward to joining the TALHFA network to help foster profes- sional connections and work towards a common goal of providing much needed affordable housing throughout the State.
