Cruise Ships The cruise ships originally booked for 2020 have all been cancelled because of the pandemic, but we have seen some lovely super yachts in the harbour this year, who arrived at short notice.
Yacht Taxis The Yacht Taxi service was adjusted to meet the need for social distancing. We took the decision early to only carry single households (or social bubbles) with a maximum of 4 passengers per trip, because we wanted to avoid any queues forming at the taxi pickup/drop off points. We stopped using the phone and

Harbour Master Update
Dart Harbour has worked hard to adjust working practices throughout the various phases of the coronavirus pandemic. Staff went into shiſts early to try to ensure continuity of service should one of the shiſts need to self-isolate. Many of our customers’ vessels were displaced from their normal mooring awaiting launch, as owners and boat yard operators were unable to tend to the vessels during lockdown. We worked closely with the local boatyards and gave a discount on berthing fees to our customers, who were incurring charges at boat yards, in addition

informed customers that taxi trips must be booked 24 hours in advance (from 01803 832337) and expected passengers to wear face coverings. Now that the river is seeing more visiting vessels, the first trip for visitors can be arranged over VHF, but subsequent trips are to be booked direct with the taxi driver when going ashore or via the office booking system for subsequent days. We discouraged cash handling and promoted the use of concession tickets that can be purchased over the phone to avoid interactions with staff and customers as much as possible. We ask that taxi trips continue to be booked in advance where possible. Even where times are uncertain bookings should be made as this allows us to better judge and meet capacity. Essential changes to bookings can
be made on VHF 69 on the same day. We are trying our best to meet all requests but are seeing more periods where demand outstrips capacity. Please plan ahead and make bookings as this can help to prevent disappointment. All the information on the Yacht Taxi service can be found on our website.
Pontoons and landings Our guidance on the use of pontoons and landings also needed to be reviewed to take account of social distancing and we have installed signs on pontoons and gates on Stoke Gabriel and Dittisham Pontoon landings. If you do have to go onto one of our facilities please be considerate of other users. We have noticed that our stakeholders often have very different views of the need to distance and give people space. Please remember that the government is keen to get local businesses back up and running and this means that you will come across people who are at high risk from the virus. Please be considerate and allow others space to move around. Our pontoons should be used for berth holders and landing only and I would encourage users to keep the gates closed so that others can see and read our signage. Please follow the social distancing guidelines at all times on our facilities and follow these common sense rules:
• Before using pontoons ensure walkways are clear of other people.
• People exiting the pontoon and gangways have priority.
• Do not pass other people on narrow gangways and bridges.
• Stop and wait for people in order and SY Sea Biscuit © Andy Kyle
