The Homeland Security Training Institute at College of DuPage provides courses on law enforcement, disaster preparedness, counterterrorism, intelligence and emergency response for students and professionals. Next, students are serving up culinary creations in the student- run Waterleaf Restaurant. Fresh regional American cuisine is prepared by members of the Culinary & Pastry Arts and Service classes. Let’s step back in time and explore some quaint, historic towns. Start in the historic downtown of Morris, which is situated along the I&M Canal. There is time for lunch or tea on your own at Letty Mae’s Tea Room and shopping or browsing in this charming area. Next stop, tour the historically important and architecturally unique Reddick Mansion in Ottawa. Built in 1855, this 22-room Italianate mansion was possibly the most expensive and ornate private home in Illinois before the Civil War. We will also visit the Weber House and Garden, which has celebrity ties and stories that reach all the way to Hollywood. Trip includes tours and transportation. (RS)
