Corfe Mullen Town Council

June… half way through the year and what a year so far!

Firstly I want us to remember in our thoughts all those who have lost loved ones, especially this year. Anyone experiencing loss at this time has an added layer of anxiety, separation and difference. This adds to an already distressing time and my sincere condolences go out to all families dealing with loss.

More than ever we have come to know who those essential workers are in our own and wider community. Whether it be: frontline health and social care staff, including volunteers; those providing medicine; those keeping our utilities working; our public transport running; those who keep us safe; those involved in the production, provision and sale of our food and the support of our local churches, we are grateful to them all and thank them for their service.

Part of our local service is our Town Council and we welcome our new Clerk, Nicola Gray. Nicola was our first choice at interview earlier this year and was an outstanding candidate. We are delighted that Nicola has now joined us and will be working with the Town Council to further deliver the best value and provision across our community.

6 THE CORFE MULLEN LINK

Whilst welcoming Nicola, we must also express our thanks and gratitude to our outgoing Clerk, Katrine Blee. When Katrina joined Corfe Mullen Council eighteen years ago, the job of Clerk was a very different role to the one it has evolved to become today. This has largely been due to Katrina’s tenacity in learning, building relationships with the upper tier authority, and her determination to always strive for what is best for Corfe Mullen. One of Katrina’s key legacies, in my opinion (and there are many) is the transformation of our Village Hall. This is now a facility to be extremely proud of and plays a very important part in the heart of our community.

Corfe Mullen is a respected community within Dorset and Katrina has been a consistent force that has driven that recognition over many years.

So, I end this contribution to the Link with my personal thanks to Katrina for being such a tremendous support to Corfe Mullen, her patience, dedication and commitment.

The Council wish you a very long and happy (early) retirement.
