Plants make us all feel better Advice for gardeners from Chestnut Nursery
As for all of us, life here at the nursery has been a little different recently. But despite all the challenges, the warm sun ensured that the plants kept growing.
We knew local gardeners were keen to get plants and compost
during lock down, so we launched our web shop and home delivery service back in April, and then in May we set up ‘Click & Collect’. It’s been great to see all the plants that the volunteers worked so hard to grow, making it safely to your gardens, rather than go to waste. We are working towards fully opening the site to custom as soon as possible, keep an eye on our web site for announcements.
Now for something a little different. Back in February some of the volunteers sowed some unusual seeds including, the Mountain Papaya, Banks’s Cordyline (a super rare species) and lots of Tamarillo, the tree tomato from South America. It’s been great to see these unusual seedlings come through and it’s a real testament to the skill and passion that our volunteers have for plants.
The plan is to sow and grow lots more unusual exotics and we can’t wait to share our passion for plants with you all when things get back to some a semblance of normality. Charities like ours are increasingly important in these trying times and we thank all our customers and supporters. We look forward to showing you our unusual plants soon.
