Let us know any
questions you may have about moving and he’ll answer them for you.
Estate Agents are back to work and you may be wondering how they can go about their job of taking properties on for sale or let and then showing potential buyers or tenants around. I thought I would give you some answers.
Putting your home on the market.
You can put your home on the market and if you are moving on, start to look for properties you want to move to. Estate Agents can list new properties and we are able to visit your property to take photos and videos while fully adhering to public health guidance. If any member of the household is showing symptoms or self-isolating, then estate agents should not physically visit the property.
By getting in touch with an Estate Agent they will tell you how they are working and in turn you will need to follow the advice that they put forward. They will be able to explain their own procedures and how they are managing the safety of their staff and clients.
Showing buyers/tenants around my home
Your agent can only carry out physically distanced viewings that carefully adhere to public health guidance. It is vital that safety comes first and there are measures that need to
• • •
be followed to conduct viewings safely: •
•
When conducting viewings, they should be done by appointment only and open houses are not permitted.
If your home is being viewed, open all windows and doors prior to the viewing taking place and if possible, leave the property for the duration of the viewing. If it is not possible to go out, then the seller must shut themselves in a room whilst the viewing is taking place.
Everyone involved must wash / sanitize their hands prior to the viewing and handwashing facilities should be made available with separate paper towels if possible.
•
Estate agents will restrict the number of people (it is advised to be a maximum of two people – from the same household – and ideally not young children) and during the viewing follow social distancing guidelines.
People viewing will be asked to wear a face covering and not to touch anything during the viewing (a worksurface, a bannister etc).
Once the viewing has finished, the homeowner should ensure surfaces such as door handles are cleaned.
This may seem like a bit of a hassle, but it is the new ‘normal’ and from our experience to date everybody has readily accepted this way of working without fuss. If you are looking to move on, then do not delay and contact an Agent today.
Stay safe and well Jason
