Summer GUIDE 2020

Santa Rosa, CA. ~ This year everything is differ- ent, yet the 2020 annual Artstart summer pro- gram for teen art appren- tices will go on, maybe better than ever, and including con- siderable safety precautions. The new location fea- tures a large, airy warehouse and plentiful outdoor spaces which will allow smaller groups to work in a social distanc- ing environment. Every precaution for safety has been addressed. Some projects will even be as- signed to be com- pleted at home. Artstart is now accepting appli- cations for the Apprenticeship Program for as- piring artists be- tween the ages of 14 and 20 years of age. This year the program will run two 4-week sessions, one for the month of July, the other in August, on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays from 10am to 4pm. Due to the unusual circumstances of Covid-19, note that all dates and services are subject to change. This is the 21st consecu- tive year that Artstart will award financial compen- sation to aspiring young artists on completion of the program. Admission is based on a jury of the artists’ visual arts port- folio. Application dead- line is Friday, June 26,

2020 and can be found at www.artstart.us. This is a career train-

ing apprenticeship pro- gram and is especially beneficial for teens inter- ested in art. It provides

Rohnert Park Senior Center. Along with new projects and multiple artistic disciplines we teach repair and mainte- nance of existing public art projects.

The appren-

ticeships and services pro- vided via Art- start would not be possible without public and private art commissions as well as individ- ual and corpo- rate donations. By contributing to and select- ing Artstart for commissions, individuals, businesses, and corporations are helping to expand profes- sional on-the- job arts training opportunities --- a rarity --- for young artists. This year Art-

JOKES & Humor # 4

A guy calls his boss and says, “I can’t come to work today” The boss asks why and the guy says, “It’s my eyes.”

“What’s wrong with your eyes?” asks the boss. “I just can’t see myself

coming to work, so I’m going fishing instead...”
