INBUSINESS VIEWPOINT

--What a whirlwind start to 2020 Q1 has been! From Brexit to Covid-19, there has been a fair share of challenges facing our business community already this year, and while we sadly can’t provide an encompassing solution to either, we are well equipped to support our members through any issues that arise. We recommend all businesses stay abreast of the latest

government advice on Covid-19, and check www.gov.uk regularly. With emergency changes to statutory sick pay legislation in the recent Budget, and the Chancellor’s announcement of a carte blanche to the NHS to tackle this issue, we are optimistic that a supportive environment will help industry weather this unprecedented storm. In collaboration with our colleagues at the British Chambers of

Commerce, there is also a comprehensive guide to the issues facing firms during the Brexit transition period on page 20. As part of our representation mandate, we will be putting forward the views and concerns of our members during this process, and as the BCC calls for a room-next-door approach to trade negotiations, we will continue to keep you informed of developments. Here at the Chamber we pride ourselves on the comprehensive range of services on offer –

from HR and legal advice, to international documentation and accredited training courses – whatever challenges this current turbulence throws your way, get in touch with the team and we’ll be sure to do our best to help. The resilience and vibrancy of the Milton

Keynes business community never fails to amaze us, and this is particularly true for the next generation of business leaders. It was with great pride that we launched our second annual Next Generation Business Awards in February. Entries are open until 3 April and the ceremony will be held on 26 June. We hope to see many of you on what promises to be a dazzling evening.
