and its nuances, likes the food, is at ease in the culture and understands where his fellow countrymen are coming from. I regret to say it, but I have seen many well-meaning, good-hearted Americans totally deceived and exploited by craſty foreign “wolves” who could not deceive their fellow countrymen.
In mission work, as in life, one size
does not fit all. What works in one country does not necessarily work in another because people and cultures differ. Prayer for the right direction from the Lord is mandatory. One should always remember the parable about the sower and the seed: Tere is a great variety in the quality of national soils and in the spiritual maturity of local believers to rise up and respond.
Finally, we must remember what the true objective of our mission work is. Paul told Timothy in I Timothy 1:5:
“Now the end of the commandment is charity, out of a pure heart, and of a good conscience, and faith unfeigned...”
We do mission work because Jesus commanded us to go into all the world and preach the Gospel. We do it because God loves the world and wants it to be saved and not to perish. We do it without any ulterior motive. We do it
