Joy’s Story
She came into the world on November 25, 2013. Joy’s father sadly died soon after she was born, and her mother is mentally ill. Due to that illness, Joy was a neglected child. A stranger found the child on the streets and abducted her. After a long search by members of her village, Joy was discovered across the border in Tanzania. No one knows exactly what happened to this child during her abduction, but when she returned to Kenya, she was very depressed and withdrawn.
Love and Grace saved a child who had known nothing but sorrow!
Her aunt volunteered to take Joy into her home. It was also the aunt who brought her to Triumphant Grace Academy in January 2019. Initially the staff was challenged by Joy’s behavior. No matter what they did, they couldn’t get her to open up. Yet in the face of constant rejection, they continued to employ love and patience with each interaction. In time, Joy smiled (what a day that was) and grew to accept her teachers as trusted friends. Joy is now in Pre-Primary One and is improving in both classroom and social skills each
